Do you have a favorite poem or quote, or line?

Hello out there, I like collecting poems and quotes does anyone have a poem, quote or favorite line they'd like to share?

Here is one of my favorites, author unknown.

You can do it!

You can do what ever you think you can but you will never acomplish more for if you are afraid of yourself young man there is nothing for you in store.

For failure comes from inside first it's there if you only knew it and you can win though you face the worst if you feel that you can do it.

I learned this poem in high school and I can still recite it from memory 20 years later, not bad for an old broad.
It is the sign of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it. -Aristotle
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting Gold - Maurice Setter
My Madonna

I haled me a woman from the street,
Shameless, but, oh, so fair!
I bade her sit in the model's seat
And I painted her sitting there.

I hid all trace of her heart unclean;
I painted a babe at her breast;
I painted her as she might have been
If the Worst had been the Best.

She laughed at my picture and went away.
Then came, with a knowing nod,
A connoisseur, and I heard him say;
"'Tis Mary, the Mother of God."

So I painted a halo round her hair,
And I sold her and took my fee,
And she hangs in the church of Saint Hillaire,
Where you and all may see.

I like.....

Shoot for the moon, even if you fail, you'll still end up among the stars.

And I think this is really pretty.....

Je t'aime aujourd'hui plus que hier mais moins que demain.
Jees Sassie, nope I don't. Ifn I did, I sure tell ya.

I have a few I hate, such as: When life hand you lemons, make lemonade.

I would really take a 2x4 to the idiot who first thought of that.

Also, "just say no"

Lots of nice poems, and quotes, but if one tries to live one's life reciting a mantra such as "when the going gets tough......etc", well, that's pretty one dimensional. Could lead to delusionary thinking.
(delusionary???, word?)

My fave poem:

Roses is red
Violets is blue
Uggs got a thing
For Sassielassie too.................. d'oh

Well I gotta go practise my yoga. Last night I got my legs wrapped around my head. Tonight I try to unwrap them.

just say yes

Find a purpose in life so big it will challenge every capacity to be at your best.

My hopes are not always realized, but I always hope.

What I cannot love, I overlook...

Women are not always equal in the eyes of happiness

If you want an accounting of your worth, Count your friends.

The future has several names. For the weak, it is '' Impossible''.For the fainthearted, it is the ''Unknown". For the thoughtful and valiant, It is the ''Ideal".

Love is what makes two people sit in the middle of a bench when there is plenty of room at both ends.
If you do not enjoy what you have, how could you be happy with more.

"He tore his pants upon a nail, and had to wear his sister's"[Anon]
The Dalai Lama

There are no dualities, there is nothing outside ourselves. We are all One. Our connection to each other is reflective of our connection with Spirit. There is no beginning, there is no end. It is ever-present and eternal. We are not alone in this life, ever. We are bound together, to learn and grow and help one another. It is our purpose, it is our privilege.
When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot, and HANG ON!
If you're being run out of town, run in front and make it look like a parade!
A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

Lead, follow or get out of the way. - Thomas Paine.
"If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they may have planned for you? Not much."

"When an ordinary ignoramus meets an immortal sage and does not recognise him, that too is the order of things."

Accept changes. For, without them, Man becomes as stagnant as the dying woodland pond, never moving forward, always holding on to that which was---until one day...he too is dying within.

Mary Summer Rain
The point of life is not to be married or single - it is to be. We are human beings, or humans being. It does not matter so much what lifestyle we choose - it's what we make of the opportunities to grow, that counts.

I hate quotes.

Because such quotes always are used to make a point
to others. Quotes oughta be like religion, kept quietly
to one's self, to be meant only for one's self.

A good quote should only be used in the morning
right underneath the mirror to make you program
yourself to follow its advice.

Never effective in telling others.

Only to yourself on the down low, like a whisper.

Like a mantra.
My mantra every single day is that I look at my beautiful face in the mirror and say " I am a blessed and worthy being that needs her meds!" I giggle and have a great day :P
Giggling at the mirror is always a good thang.

It never hurts.
So Im told...
LOL !!!

Making faces in the mirror is a highly evolved
art form and highly recommended for the start
of every day.

The giggles come right after doing such.

That's just one of the MANY byproducts.
Seratonine rush is another Kinda like flirting with the person in the mirror. Leaves you feeling good about yourself even when noone else does lol
Here we are in cyber night Canada posting
from within the great state of Virginia, talking about
a low tech dazzling commodity being that of a mirror.
