I agree peapod (in fact, I'm surprisedanyone in their right mind could disagree). I've been to Amsterdam, which is renowned for it's liberal attitude on this subject (Rick /JDream can tell us more), and I've seen it's famous red light district and the girls in windows there. Yes, prostitution exists, so the Dutch deserve praise for being open about it, and at least improving the lot of prostitutes in terms of lessening exposure to drugs, violence and disease. However, at the end of the day even there it's still about the violation, degradation and exploitation of women, by men, for men - clearly it's men who make the real profits from pornography and prostitution. Prostitution only encourages a depraved attitude towards women as sex objects, and generally isn't in the interest of either the woman or society as a whole. (Those who can't get any should have a cold shower, and a long, hard think).

vanni and henry you both rock To bad you did not live in victoria ...you could be starbuck jesters

I am sorry for getting all worked up. But I did do some vounteer work with street people for awhile, I could not take it any longer. A 14 year old that runs away from home because she does not want to be raped by her father a couple of times of week does not really have alot of choice on what she will be doing to earn a living. These are not good or fun times tibear. It makes me so angry when people think that women actually enjoy living that kind of life.
They have alot more balls than most men...(vanni and henry excluded ) they have to literally put their lives at risk, for perverts that think for a few bucks they can do whatever they like to another human being....end of rant.

I'm not messing with you.

In the city I live in, Christians do a lot of volunteering, I was asked to do some for a shelter through the church I attend, and I did. While I was there the man who ran the shelter thanked us for our duties, but reminded us (as a church) that there are lots of volunteers but there is never enough money. So when I give money I look at it as volunteering, but I recognize what your saying....you need to get on the street to see why this is all very important.

Take a good look at who's running most of the charitable organizations and you will find that most of them are run by religious people.

As for whether Ms Fleiss was born wanting to be a prostitute, nobody is born wanting to be anything. We all grow up and decide for ourselfs.

A newborn only wants to be warm have a full stomach and empty diaper. It shows you've never had kids.

BTW, when did I say that all prostitutes were like Ms Fleiss. YOU simply stated that NOONE wanted to be a prostitute and I was pointing out the error in THAT statement. Jeesh take a pill, eh!

You are the one that brought her up DA!!!!!

Wrong again as usual...look after many a newborn baby... I have 5 brothers and sisters. They all have kids. And ehm...never met a baby that did not need love and affection to go along with the full stomach and empty diaper. DA!

Funny I would think you would consider the pill a form of abortion.

I agree with Pea--nobody wants to hear that nonsense! Some kids might go along with the gag just to get the freebies, but that's the only reason. As for prostitutes, there'll probably be a lot more of them in Heaven than the religioso.

True Henry. What is misunderstood by many is that the Dutch policies of "accepting" prostitution is not because we all think prostitution is a good job for a woman, but because our policy makers understand that prostitution will always exist, whether you like it or not, so why not make the best out of it? Many brothels are member of the "Rode Draad", a labor union for prostitutes. It grants them certain protections etc., to protect them from abuse etc. I know many Conservatives do not agree with it, but I just feel this is the best way to do, as - as I already stated - prostitution will always be there, and in that case, you can better control it than oppose it (which doesn't work really).

Legalize it so it can be regulated ie. medical tests, safe place to "conduct business" collect gst for government.

Unfortunatly Prostitution is never going to go away and the unfortunate souls that have to resort to doing it should be able to do it in a safe enviroment.
