In 2015 Revenue Canada wanted go completely on-line. I still have Windows 7, which serves me well, but apparently not good enough for the Revenue Canada website. Mostly I simply cannot log on to my account. Sometimes I can log on but get kicked out at the next step. So, I paper filed my 2015 income tax. Although I have requested it, to date I have not received their closing statement nor my $1100+ refund I am claiming with interest. I filed a complaint with the RCMP and they replied that they see nothing wrong.
I am 79 years old. I have applied to OAS not to deduct tax from my OAS, considering the difficulties I am facing receiving my refund. They replied that they will into it, six months later I have not heard back and they are still deducting.
I filed a complaint with the tax ombudsman. For months he kept up a lovely polite dialogue with me; other than this did nothing. Is he there just to stall and let angry taxpayers went frustration until they give up?
Here comes the obscene part: An email I received from Revenue Canada, with their website address on the bottom:
s://www.cra-arc.gc.ca | 2016 | Tax Refund

I opened it and a spread sheet came up asking me to provide all my banking(s) information, acct no, balance, everything. I ignored this, but kept it on my system. Today I clicked on this site again and a spreadsheet titled "The best porno sites" came up, complete with porno images. The Tax Ombudsman and the RCMP think there is nothing wrong.

Windows 7 is unlikely to be the problem, your report looks more like your browser's been hijacked or you've got some malware elsewhere on your system. Do you have security software installed?

and so are we, estimated repairs to 24 Sussex is 38 millions, yikes !!

It's 2016. Some of the construction crew need to be women ;)

38 million is a small price to pay to assure half of the construction is being performed by women. Social justice is a very important part of our identity

We will fly them in from every part of the world to ensure social justice objectives are meet. We have a image to maintain

I deal with CRA daily. They will NOT email you (except for filing confirmation) for anything. As stated by other posters, it's a scam. Call CRA 1-800-959-8281 (press the * key when answered) and speak directly to an agent. If you haven't already registered on-line to "My Account" I would strongly suggest you do so since CRA will be, eventually, going completely paperless (unless you don't have a computer).

I get those e-mails from the "CRA" and various "banks". I hit the "reply" button (not any links!) and try to return it. Sometimes, the "undelivered" message tells you where it originated. Just this summer, I got a series of such e-mails that the return address indicated that they had originated on a some community college computers. I contacted the college, forwarded the e-mails and the code details of the e-mails and turned it over to them.

Before you do anything with your PC, download malware-bytes from File Hippo...(a safe download site)
http://filehippo.com/search?q=Malwarebytes
Download the Commercial Trial version, For about a week or ten days you will have a lot of options and constant monitoring after you install it.
After it reverts to the free version which will give you scans for malware / viruses whenever you decide to use it....

Or if you are technically challenged bring it to a friend who isn't, to clean it up for you.

I don't understand that statement. You mean, there would no longer be printed tax forms? No offices where you could speak to an employee? No place to mail your cheques?

With many systems, if you 'hover' your cursor over the link, you'll see what the actual address it goes to is. They're never what they purport to be.

Northern Ontario,
If you owe them money, you can always pay at the Bank of your choice

BTW....this is the desired result after running malwarebytes

the time it takes depends on the speed of your processor and the amount of stuff in your computer...

You are right, thank you for the information. There is only the problem of logging in. You can't get to your site un;less you log in, Genius

I never owe them money, they just help themselves to my OAS and Canada Pension, and they are very generous to themselves. Every year I have to apply to have the deductions reduced, but they never do. The whole thing is a farce. To add insult to injury and we are paying their salaries.

I don't recall ever getting e-mailed from the tax man.
You can have mine, he sends you links to his favorite sites. No wonder they don't have time to process my return, they are busy entertaining themselves with sites such as he sent me. And we are paying their salaries.

I don't think I will. The Revenue Canada link came to me in a regular email from Revenue Canada. It is almost hard to comprehend, isn't it? That is my outrage.

This is exactly my point. I paper filed and I have requested from Revenue Canada to places send their correspondence to me not by email but by Canada Post. This is what they will not do. They built their own impenetrable internet fortress and sticking to it. They are holding my OAS and Canada Pension at ransom and deduct anything they want to and I am powerless to stop it. This is exactly my argument

She can do her taxes on the computer at home and copy it to a thump drive and login at a library or a friend and see what is going on that way. Trying paper is no way to do anything as it is a month before you actually hear anything. Granted a secure network is a must if you are going to have any fun online. I have settled for adwcleaner_6.040 and deleted all the other stuff and it seems to run on win 10 and server 2003. If the system is really messed up and it has a recovery back to new or original that might be the way to. A repair will keep all your documents and programs and an install is everything from scratch. I like to keep by bookmarks and e-mail so things like that end up on a disk (and then I lose it so waste of time really) I like to see how things work so I would choose the long road as the way go. (if I ever have to do it again the time spent is a lot less)

I've been dealing with the CRA online exclusively for over a decade, and that's not how its officials behave in my experience. If your claims are accurate--and frankly I don't think they are; if your posting history here is indicative, you're full of conspiracy theories and mystic nonsense--you're talking to some faker pretending to be a CRA official.

Paper filing is perfectly legal as is my request for my refund to be deposited to my bank account, as has been done in the years past.
My system is clean and works well for everything else. My guess is that smart-*** Revenue Canada clerk is blocking my log-in, for whatever reason. I am pursuing it because I want this individual exposed and gone.
