A disgraced teacher fired for having sex with a 17-year-old student is claiming the boy seduced her.
Mary Beth Haglin – canned from her Iowa teaching job – told Dr. Phil the boy swept her off her feet.
"He did so with such intelligence and such an elevated vocabulary that I was completely duped by the whole facade,” the 24-year-old told the TV psychologist. "He caught me in my weakest moments, and he used that to his advantage.”
The teacher-turned-stripper said the boy wooed her with handwritten notes and steamy texts.
"I did ignore a lot of that at first because obviously, I knew that it was illegal, not allowed, frowned upon – everything," she said.
Finally, she says she succumbed to the teen’s charm – even though she knew what was in her heart was taboo.
“We had sex – almost daily – in his car, my car, his mom's house, and his dad's house,” the teaching temptress said, adding she wanted to end their illicit romps but the boy threatened to rat her out.
"When things got way out of control, and I wanted out, he began saying 'I will light a match and burn your life down,’” Haglin added.
She could be jailed for two years -- even though she believes she’s the victim.
Meanwhile, Washington state high school teacher Olivia Sondheim, 25, has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a male student, the DailyMail.com reports.
The Lynnwood High School choir teacher has been charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, according to the site.
Officials say in the DailyMail.com story the much married Sondheim and the student (16 at the time) became close and the relationship turned sexual. Her photo was still on the school web page.
She wrote on the choir page: “I am excited to get to know each and every one of you,” the news agency reports.

Talking to Dr. Phil might cost sex-crazed teacher-turned-stripper Mary Beth Haglin more time in the big house.
Haglin, who admitted on Dr. Phil’s TV show that she had sex with a 17-year-old student “almost daily” while working as a supply teacher in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a more serious charge added to her rap sheet because of the on-air interview, according to the Daily Star.
Originally, Haglin was charged with sexually exploiting a minor, an aggravated misdemeanour that carries a maximum two-year prison sentence. She pleaded not guilty to that charge.
Now she’s looking at five years in the slammer.
The 24-year-old, who started calling herself Bambi while working as a stripper after being fired from her teaching gig, is reportedly facing a count of sexual exploitation. And she has nobody to blame but herself — prosecutors upped the charge after her interview with Dr. Phil aired on TV earlier this month.
“The defendant has participated in a series of public interviews in which she admitted engaging in a pattern or practice of sexual conduct with a student while employed as a teacher at Washington High School, which supports the more serious felony offence,” a motion filed by the Linn County Attorney’s Office said, according to multiple reports.
In her interview with Dr. Phil, Haglin said she was seduced by the teen, who left her handwritten notes and sent her raunchy texts. She believes she is the victim in the sordid affair.
“He did so with such intelligence and such an elevated vocabulary that I was completely duped by the whole facade,” she told the TV psychologist. “He caught me in my weakest moments, and he used that to his advantage.
“We had sex — almost daily — in his car, my car, his mom’s house, and his dad’s house. When things got way out of control, and I wanted out, he began saying ‘I will light a match and burn your life down.’”
Haglin, who was arrested after turning herself in last July, will be arraigned Nov. 4.
