Well, I have a message for these special snowflakes. Do you want to know what REAL oppression looks like? How about 15 years hard labor for attempting to steal a poster? How about being imprisoned in a jail where you’re so hungry that eating corn out of cow dung or, if you’re really lucky – catching a mouse – is considered a meal. How about being served “justice” by a court not ruled by a jury of your peers but rather a totalitarian government that cares less than nothing for your tears?

Enter the world of 21-year-old University of Virginia student Otto Warmbier, who was just sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for trying to nick a political banner from a hotel in Pyongyang, capital of the North Korea communist regime.

We've created a culture of whiners and "selfee'rs" (for lack of a better word) - i.e. spoiled brats! Their ideological beliefs are so ***-backwards, it's unbelievable. While there are still those who have the "common sense" gene, they're few and far between and the vast majority are the ones who rally against them because they don't agree. It's disgusting that the University and College Administrations and Professors are complicit in this ideology which is destroying the fabric of our nations. I believe current progressives call it the "divide and conquer" process and it's working! Obama is a master of it and look what's happening there.

It's one thing to be "progressive" in a positive way; it's called evolving and there are always better ways and better things we can do. The "progressives" now-a-days are doing just the opposite - they're a negative influence on society and look what we've got = dysfunction at the junction - aka the Trumps of the world coming to the fore because people are sick and tired of the alternatives.

The UN is a fine example of what we can expect in the future - hell, hot even the future, it's happening now: despots involved in ruling the human rights counsels; determining whose lives are more important; watching as certain people/cultures/races that are slaughtered without lifting a finger to put a stop to it; women and gays losing their rights in various parts of the world and, again, despots deciding it doesn't matter because they're considered "property" or "filth" rather than human beings and again, doing nothing to stop the beatings or killings. That's what the progressives now-a-days have brought us because I don't see Trudeau or Obama standing up in the UN to criticize anyone of those countries involved. Unlike Harper who refused a seat on the UN. Now that's taking a stand! Unfortunately, Trudeau is about to reverse that stand. The idiot! We should have absolutely nothing to do with the UN - Pearson must be rolling in his grave at what its become.

But when it involves Israel - the ONLY democracy in the ME - they can do nothing right. The hypocrisy is absolutely mind-numbing.

Universities and Colleges are supposed to be where our children learn and grow. Unfortunately, they've become the bastion of ignorance, closed-mindedness and intolerance - so-called "progressive ideology", so I hate what they stand for and hate what they're doing to our countries.

It's not just about toughness. Bubble wrapping kids takes away from them the ability to learn risk assessment. This is a skill that cannot be taught, it must be learned by interacting with our environment. It's the interaction with the environment at a young age that gives us the ability to decide if something is a good idea or a bad idea. We do something, break an arm or a leg and reach the conclusion, albeit the hard way, that maybe that wasn't such a great idea.
The fact that we learn more from our failures (and the pain it may bring ) than we learn from getting it right the first time seems lost on a lot of people these days.
Kinds need to explore and learn their limits otherwise they tend to make incredibly stupid decisions once they reach adulthood.

Our society has bubbled wrapped children politically every time any have died from exposure to danger.

We all jump on that band wagon every time. The message we have given has been very clear. Bubble wrap those little children at any cost.

We are simply witnessing the logical conclusion to those policy's.

And now we are mad at the children because of the decisions we made?

I think we created this disaster and now we are pissing on the kids for being exactly what we made them into.

Um, I take exception to "we all jump(ed)" I don't believe that's true at all. I believe "some" jumped and raised hell because that's what they do and if you raise enough hell long enough, some politician is going to listen and make changes. Those of us who didn't agree were just thought to be "trashy parents" who didn't want the "best" for their "little uns".

Spank her/him (now it) on the bum? Absolutely not! That's assault! Make them pay for their vandalism? Absolutely not - they're deprived children and didn't know any better - besides, the victim should (have) had insurance. Being a bully? We need to "understand" where they're coming from. Notice - no consequences at all!!

Jinntonix couldn't have put it better - we learn from our mistakes - but not anymore. Our kids don't make "mistakes" any anymore because it's now almost always "someone else's fault".

Don't know about you, but I sure didn't approve of the changes that were being made and my son suffered the consequences of his bad decisions and he's turned out remarkably well.

The Chinese kids coming to our Universitis are misfits compared to the Canadian students.

They have no idea what "politically correct" is. It's not part of their upbringing or culture.

We got along just fine.

'North Korea is not a victim. They're terrorists'; Parents of student who died after detention speak out
Dan Sewell, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Tuesday, September 26, 2017 02:14 PM EDT | Updated: Tuesday, September 26, 2017 02:24 PM EDT
CINCINNATI — The parents of a young Ohioan who was detained in North Korea for more than a year and died soon after being released said Tuesday he was “jerking violently,” howling, and “staring blankly” when he returned home on a medical flight.
Fred and Cindy Warmbier appeared on Fox News’ Fox & Friends morning TV show amid an escalating war of words between the Trump administration and North Korea. A North Korean official has claimed President Donald Trump has, in effect, declared war, which the White House denied.
Otto Warmbier’s father said they wanted to speak out about his condition after hearing North Korea claiming to be a victim that’s being picked on.
“North Korea is not a victim. They’re terrorists,” he said. “They kidnapped Otto. They tortured him. They intentionally injured him. They are not victims.”
The parents described the condition his family found him in when they went aboard an air ambulance that arrived June 13 in Cincinnati. They said Warmbier, a 22-year-old University of Virginia student, was howling, making an “involuntary, inhuman sound,” ”staring blankly into space jerking violently,“ and was blind and deaf with his head shaved. Fred Warmbier said his mouth ”looked like someone had taken a pair of pliers and rearranged his bottom teeth.“
Fred Warmbier said Otto’s mother and sister ran off the plane at the initial sight of him.
“We weren’t prepared ... no mother, no parent should ever have gone through what we went through,” Cindy Warmbier said. She said it was “inexcusable” that her son had been alone in captivity for so long with no one to comfort him. She said she “got it together” and stayed with him after his arrival.
President Trump tweeted about the family’s appearance, calling it “a great interview” and that: “Otto was tortured beyond belief by North Korea.”
Fred Warmbier also said Otto had a large scar on his right foot and a high fever.
He died less than a week after returning at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Doctors there said he arrived in a state of “unresponsive wakefulness” and had suffered a “severe neurological injury” of uncertain cause.
North Korea has denied mistreating the youth, sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in March 2016 for allegedly stealing a propaganda poster. He was arrested that January as he prepared to leave the country after visiting as a tourist.

This is the barrel the graduates today face. The pay-out from the past should show what the future holds. Is it driven by no jobs available or did they just say 'fuk it' if everybody defaults they can't do anything but pass it off to the taxpayer. Problem solved.

https://studentloanhero.com/student-loan-debt-statistics/
You’ve probably heard the statistics: Americans owe over $1.45 trillion in student loan debt, spread out among about 44 million borrowers. That’s about $620 billion more than the total U.S. credit card debt. In fact, the average Class of 2016 graduate has $37,172 in student loan debt, up six percent from last year.
But how does this break down at a more granular level? Are student loans being used to attend public or private universities? Is it mostly from four-year or graduate degrees? What percentage of overall graduates carry debt? Are more grads utilizing private student loan consolidation and refinancing?
Let’s take a look.
(in part)

I'm going to assume such loans are interest bearing loans.

I doubt the tuition paid by the parents for private schools does not cover all expenses. If you do not have private schooling in you background you will not climb very high on the ladder of success. Some parents need to build a wing to get their kids a diploma so it's hardly a fair system.

Cause of Otto Warmbier's death after he was released by North Korea may never be known
Dan Sewell, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Wednesday, September 27, 2017 06:51 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, September 27, 2017 06:56 PM EDT
CINCINNATI — A coroner said Wednesday her office could not determine what led to the fatal brain damage of a young Ohio man detained in North Korea for more than a year.
While the parents of 22-year-old Otto Warmbier and President Donald Trump have accused the North Korean government of torturing him, Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco said evidence has led to no “scientific facts” to solve Warmbier’s mysterious death.
“We don’t know what happened to him, and this is the bottom line,” she said. The cause of the death may never be known, she added.
A coroner’s report dated Sept. 11 shows the cause of death for the University of Virginia student as complications from brain-damaging oxygen deprivation through “an unknown insult more than a year prior to death.” The medical term for his condition was called “chronic anoxic/ischemic encephalopathy.” The manner of death was listed as “undetermined.”
While Warmbier’s family declined an autopsy, Sammarco said her office used extensive medical scanning and imaging for a “virtual autopsy” and that nothing more would have been gained by doing an autopsy so long after his brain damage occurred.
Warmbier’s parents told a Fox News TV show Tuesday that North Korea tortured and “destroyed” him. Trump tweeted afterward: “Otto was tortured beyond belief by North Korea.” Trump’s tweet added to a series of recent accusations and heated exchanges between his administration and North Korean officials.
North Korea has denied mistreating Warmbier, sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in March 2016 for allegedly stealing a propaganda poster two months earlier. North Korea has claimed Warmbier fell into a coma that resulted from botulism and a sleeping pill.
Sammarco agreed with University of Cincinnati Health system doctors who treated Warmbier and said they found no evidence of botulism or evidence of fractures or healing fractures that might point to beatings. She said a forensic dentist agreed with her conclusion there was “no evidence of trauma” to Warmbier’s teeth.
Fred Warmbier said on TV that his son’s mouth “looked like someone had taken a pair of pliers and rearranged his bottom teeth.”
Sammarco said Warmbier’s body, including his skin, was in surprisingly good condition for someone who had reportedly been bedridden for more than a year, indicating he received regular care. Her office’s report said his body appeared “well-nourished.” There were multiple scars and bruises, some apparently stemming from medical procedures.
He died in Cincinnati in June 2017, less than a week after his return to the U.S. Sammarco said Warmbier was put on “comfort care” measures, such as removing a feeding tube.
The parents on Tuesday, for the first time, described the condition his family found him in when they went aboard an air ambulance that arrived June 13 in Cincinnati. His father said he was making an “involuntary, inhuman sound,” “’staring blankly into space jerking violently,” and was blind and deaf with his head shaved.
UC Health doctors said in June that Warmbier was in a state of “unresponsive wakefulness” and had suffered a “severe neurological injury” of uncertain cause.
His father didn’t respond immediately Wednesday to requests for comment.
AP Medical Writer Lauran Neergaard in Washington contributed to this report.

North Korea accuses Trump admin. of exploiting Otto Warmbier — U.S. student who died after detention in the Asian country
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Thursday, September 28, 2017 01:55 PM EDT | Updated: Thursday, September 28, 2017 02:09 PM EDT
SEOUL, Korea, Republic Of — North Korea accused the Trump administration on Thursday of exploiting the death of an Ohio student who died soon after being released from detention in the Asian nation.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency quoted a foreign ministry spokesman as criticizing the White House for using the death of Otto Warmbier for propaganda purposes against North Korea.
“The fact that the U.S. is employing even a dead person for the conspiracy campaign to fuel the international atmosphere of putting pressure on (North Korea) shows how vile and inveterate the hostility of the U.S. policy-makers towards (North Korea) is,” the unidentified spokesman said in a statement.
Warmbier, who was vacationing in North Korea, was sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in March 2016 for allegedly stealing a propaganda poster two months earlier. North Korea has said Warmbier fell into a coma that resulted from botulism and a sleeping pill.
The spokesman reiterated North Korea’s denial that it tortured the American student, who was detained for more than year and died soon after his release to the U.S. while still in a coma.
“We provided him with sincere medical care on humanitarian grounds in consideration of his failing health until he returned to the U.S.,” he said.
The statement expressed particular indignation that U.S. President Donald Trump had criticized North Korea’s top leader.
“The fact that the old lunatic Trump and his riff-raff slandered the sacred dignity of our supreme leadership, using bogus data full of falsehood and fabrications, only serves to redouble the surging hatred of our army and people towards the U.S.,” it said.
Trump referenced Warmbier’s death in comments critical of North Korea during his debut speech to the U.N. General Assembly earlier this month.
Warmbier’s parents told a Fox News TV show Tuesday that North Korea tortured and “destroyed” him. Trump tweeted afterwards: “Otto was tortured beyond belief by North Korea.” The tweet added to a series of recent accusations and heated exchanges between his administration and North Korean officials.
An Ohio coroner on Wednesday said her office was unable to determine what caused the brain damage that led to Warmbier’s death, other than it stemmed from oxygen deprivation more than a year before his death.
“Could that have been torture at the time? We don’t know,” Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco said.
