A Depression-era Lebanon Valley College leader with the last name Lynch has found himself thrust into the middle of a roiling 21st-century debate on campus civil rights.

Students at the private college in Annville have demanded administrators remove or modify Dr. Clyde A. Lynch's last name, as it appears on a campus hall, due to the associated racial connotations.

The demand was made at a forum on campus equality issues held Friday, capping a week of demonstrations calling for changes at the predominantly white institution.

In that time, organizers, including members of a Black Student Union group, have been calling for policy changes they say are needed to address long-standing "institutional injustices" impacting a variety of groups on campus.

So university bathrooms now have to have a His, Hers and Its. If that's what the students want then they should be made personally responsible for raising all the necessary funds to do so.

There's an episode of Top Gear - back in the days before Clarkson, Hammond and May were sacked by the BBC for being white males (well, Clarkson was sacked, but it was the BBC's way of telling us that it wanted rid of all three) - where the lads are travelling through the southern United States. They start off in Miami (where they are terrified that they are going to get shot, not something they usually have to worry about in good old Britain) where they have to buy cheap Yank cars for about $1,000 each, or something like that. Clarkson walks into a used car dealer called "Adolf's."
