They resonate with what people believe is happening ... rightly or wrongly. Besides, good-for-nothing welfare bums are far more visible and obvious than manipulative oligarchs hiding in glassy towers.

As for "BBC Free Speech": that's an oxymoron if ever there was one.
The only free speech you are allowed at the BBC is if every phrase you utter on it is politically correct, in favour of mass immigration, the EU, a big state, the Labour Party, multiculturalism and feminism.
If you dare speak against any of these your speech is instantly cut off (if you are on the radio) or you are met by a rude barrage of boos, hisses, howls and shouts from the Left-wing-vetted audience (if you are on TV shows like Question Time or a general election debate).

I don't understand what bigotry having to do with saying their ridiculous ideologies have no place in modern society, that's just a simple fact - it's antiquated nonsense that is only a detriment to society, and humanity as a whole. Nothing different from saying misogyny has no place in modern society, even though it's still disgustingly rampant.
I also don't understand the argument that because you're "comfortable" you shouldn't argue for the hundreds of millions of others in poverty. Our system is broken and it's blatant to any thinking person, most people just don't care.

You don't understand where expressing prejudice about an entire group of people in order to express outrage over prejudice of an entire group of people is hypocrisy? Whether that is an entire nation or every single person who happens to vote a certain way, doesn't make a difference. These are things that you do all the time, every damn day. And perhaps if you closed your mouth more and attempted to open your ears, you might find that not every single conservative person is a homophobe, not every single American is racist. Might as well say that every man is a misogynist, every woman a misandrist. They are all patently false statements yet you speak this way all the time.
