North American Middle Class jobs, that is those based on manufacturing and other high value added activitites have all packed up and gone to cheaper places (shopped for something like power tools lately? Notice how much cheaper they have become?). It's bit much to blame that on "a government" or the USA does so-and-so. You and I created that situation with our consumer preferences. What's left are lower yield Service Sector jobs. It seems that we can't create nearly as much wealth doing each other's laundry as we used to by making and selling washing machines. Say goodbye to the Middle Class forever.

The middle class as big as we have enjoyed has never existed before industrialization. It was a unique phenomenon in our civilization. it's why our grandparents constantly reminded us of how lucky we all are.

Naturally free market will move towards our natural human tendencies of billions of slaves for a few rich kings, as it has always been. Something all the environentalists should be very happy to see, because it's the only way this planet has any chance @ being sustainable with so many humans living on it.

That you want it or not, demand for human resources is falling. To artificially stop that from happening will create a bubble that eventually will pop. The industrialized boom is done. Now we are on the slow decline until it returns to the norm.

The only advantage we have left is enormous military strength. If the United State wants to continue enjoying above average standards of life. They will only succed this by conquest and exploitation. (Rape&pilliging)

The default human government is a thugocracy with the strongest and most ruthless getting all the wealth and the most opportunities to disperse their DNA. We will almost certainly return to that sort of world. I'm glad that it will happen here after my lifetime has ended. Democracy, or our form of it, is predicated on having a literate, well informed, well paid Middle Class. All three of those are in rapid retreat.
