Three people have been arrested in connection with what police called “one of the worst cases” of child sexual assault they've encountered.

On Friday, Las Vegas Metro police detailed what they called the “disturbing” case against 48-year-old Christopher Sena, 50-year-old Debra Sena and 43-year-old Terrie Sena.

According to Lt. Dan McGrath, of Metro's sexual assault section, the investigation began in September when Debra Sena and two other people went to an attorney about allegations of sexual abuse against 48-year-old Christopher Sena. On Sept. 17, officers searched Christopher Sena's home, where investigators believe the sexual abuse happened, and arrested him.

McGrath said investigators have identified at least eight victims in the case, and that the abuse spans 12 years. He said detectives believe there are more victims.

On Thursday, McGrath said police also arrested Terri Sena and Debra Sena, Christopher Sena's wife, in connection with the case. He said both women told investigators that Christopher Sena intimidated them and made them afraid for their lives if they didn't participate in the abuse.

Christopher Sena was charged with five counts of child abuse or neglect, four counts of incest and three counts each of sex assault against a child less than 14, sex assault and lewdness with a child less than 14.

Debra Sena was charged with four counts of open and gross lewdness, two counts of sex assault against a child less than 14, two counts of incest and a single count each of promotion of sex performance of a minor less than 14, child abuse or neglect, conspiracy to commit sex assault and sex assault against a child less than 16.

Terrie Sena was charged with three counts of promotion of sex performance of minor less than 14, two counts of lewdness with a child less than 14, two counts of sex assault against child less than 14, two counts of incest, two counts of use or permit minor to produce porn, two counts of child abuse or neglect and a single count each of sex assault against a child less than 16, and conspiracy to commit sex assault.

All three were being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

Alabama teen's disappearance helps unravel incestuous sex ring

By most accounts, 19-year-old Brittney Wood was with uncle Donnie Holland the night of May 30, 2012, the last time anyone saw her. Holland — who was under investigation for horrific sex crimes at the time — died from a bullet within days in what was ruled a suicide.

The investigation that followed has publicly unraveled what authorities describe as a dark, twisted tale of perversion in the working-class neighborhoods and piney backwoods of coastal Alabama.

Eight of Woods' adult relatives and three family friends have been charged with dozens of felonies in two counties as the alleged members of an incestuous ring that authorities say shared children for group sex. Holland was the leader, prosecutors say, of what has been described as the largest sex ring ever uncovered in Alabama. Wood was a victim and likely key witness.

The case is so big officials don't know exactly how many kids inside and outside the family might have been victimized; estimates range from 11 to 16 children who were as young as 3 or 4 when they were first molested or made to watch adult relatives during drug-fueled orgies. The children of the suspects have all been placed in foster care or with relatives who weren't involved in the crimes.

Authorities believe group sex and child sexual abuse went on for three generations in two families that merged when Holland married Wendy Wood, Chessie Woods' sister.

Alabama teen's disappearance helps unravel large-scale, incestuo - ABC 33/40 - Birmingham News, Weather, Sports

UPDATE

A judge sentenced an Alabama woman to 219 years in prison Thursday for her role in an incestuous sex ring accused of molesting children for years.

Wendy Holland, 35, showed no emotion as the judge condemned her to what amounts to a life sentence. She must serve at least 50 years in prison before parole consideration, a prosecutor said.

Jurors convicted the woman of sodomy, sexual abuse and other charges last month.

Another defendant, William Brownlee, got a 20-year prison sentence. Brownlee, 50, was convicted of sodomy and sexual abuse in the fall.

The two were among 11 people charged with sex crimes following the disappearance in 2012 of a suspected victim of the ring, 19-year-old Brittney Wood. She remains missing and is presumed dead.

Baldwin Council Circuit Judge Jody Bishop gave both Holland and Brownlee the maximum sentence and said each deserved more time. Each still faces additional charges involving other alleged victims.

In a letter read in court, the underage female victim in both cases said years of abuse left her traumatized. She has a hard time trusting anyone, gets angry easily and rarely feels safe.

"I was a little girl being held down and raped," wrote the victim, who was in court.

Authorities said the two were part of a group of relatives and friends who sexually abused children and swapped their own kids for sex for years.

Holland is the widow of the alleged leader of the group, Donnie Holland, who was Brittney Wood's uncle. The teen went missing around the time Holland was found with a gunshot to the head; his death was later ruled a suicide.

Wendy and Donnie Holland's 22-year-old son Donald Paul Holland Jr. - charged with incest, rape and sexual abuse as another alleged participant in the ring - appeared before the judge in a closed hearing after his mother's sentencing.

He was seen being arrested and led away in handcuffs afterward, but the outcome of his case wasn't made public because he was handled as a youthful offender following a request by the defense.

Even without Brittney Wood to testify, two of her uncles and an older brother already pleaded guilty to sex charges before juries convicted Wendy Holland and Brownlee.

In the letter read in court, the underage teen abused by both Holland, a relative, and Brownlee, a family friend, compared her youth to being lost in a maze.

The teen said she felt like she was constantly looking into shadows around corners in fear of more sexual torture.

"The people who were supposed to protect me were the ones hurting me," she wrote in the letter.

She'd fit right in here.

It was her own fault, dressing like that.

How do these 3 not qualify for the wood chipper........

In a rare legal maneuver, an Orange County Superior Court judge Friday deviated from a mandated 25-year-to-life sentence for a man who sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl and sent him to prison for 10 years.

“Although serious and despicable, this does not compare to a situation where a pedophilic child predator preys on an innocent child,” Kelly said. “There was no violence or callous disregard for (the victim's) well-being.”

The parents of three young Spotsylvania County children whom authorities said had been locked in a room 24 hours a day and fed through a gate were convicted of three counts of felony child neglect and given suspended sentences.

Brandy Lynn Kangas, 36, and Scott Suggs, 28, pleaded guilty to the three charges on Monday in Spotsylvania circuit court. They each received a suspended six-year sentence, indefinite supervised probation and must be on good behavior for 10 years.

“The room was in disarray and had stains to include urine and feces. The children were fed through an opening in the gate.”

The children were described as a 17-month-old boy, a 3-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl, he said.

Fashion designers don't like women who look like women. They like them to look like boys and that is the kind of model that they hire.

I wonder why that would be?

Three of five Orange County supervisors are calling on a judge to resign after he gave a shorter-than-standard sentence to a man who sodomized a 3-year-old girl.

The trio also said Thursday that they will back a recall campaign for Superior Court Judge M. Marc Kelly unless he steps down.

In his ruling last week, Kelly drew a distinction between a sexual predator and Kevin Rojano-Nieto, saying the Santa Ana man acted on impulse when he attacked a relative, had no prior criminal history and was remorseful.

He said the girl's parents had asked for leniency.

Kelly gave Rojano-Nieto 10 years, ruling that the mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years to life would be cruel and unusual punishment.

The district attorney says Kelly's decision was illegal, and he'll appeal it.

Not sure whether I agree with this or not. Don't think much of mandatory minimums, and I think it's interesting that the parents asked for leniency.

There ain't enough information here.

A two-year-old boy who died last month had been starved for more than 20 days by his parents and church members they lived with before his death because they believed he was possessed by demons, according to the arrest warrant for the boy's parents and a church leader.

When police arrived, witnesses at the home told police the boy had died on March 22 after he had been fasting and only given water for 25 days. One witness claimed she tried to feed the boy on several occasions but "was scolded by the pastors of the church," which operated out of the home against city code. The pastors were later identified as husband and wife Daniel Zapata Meza, 42, and Araceli Meza, 49.

According to the document, the 35-year-old witness said she had been waiting "for the right time" to come forward to police with information about the child's death. She said on the Saturday before the child died, she was getting ready to cook in the kitchen when she noticed the boy on the table looking frail and weak. The witness said she saw the boy falling and hitting his head several times, but said she was told not to intervene because of the child's "demonic possession."

The 35-year-old witness said after a while, Araceli Meza told her the boy "all of a sudden lost control and he was like a rag doll." The witness said Mrs. Meza told her that "this was the spirit of manipulation."

The witness said Mrs. Meza then told the boy's mother, Liliana Aparicio, of his "possession." The 35-year-old witness then didn't see the boy again until the Sunday morning church service. The mother was holding the child in her arms, but the witness told police she was incoherent that day because of a demonic possession and an exorcism was performed on her.

Minnesota archdiocese charged over handling of sex abuse claims

Prosecutors on Friday charged the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis over its handling of clergy abuse claims, saying church leaders failed to protect children from unspeakable harm and "turned a blind eye" to repeated reports of inappropriate behavior by a priest who was later convicted of molesting two boys.

The archdiocese as a corporation is charged with six gross misdemeanor counts. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said there's not yet enough evidence to charge any individuals.

The charges stem from the archdiocese's handling of Curtis Wehmeyer, a former priest at Church of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Paul. He is serving a five-year prison sentence for molesting two boys and faces prosecution in Wisconsin for alleged abuse of a third boy.

Prosecutors say church leaders failed to respond to "numerous and repeated reports of troubling conduct" by Wehmeyer from the time he entered seminary until he was removed from the priesthood in 2015. The criminal complaint says many people -- including parishioners, fellow priests and parish staff -- reported issues with Wehmeyer, and many of those claims were discounted.

"It is not only Curtis Wehmeyer who is criminally responsible for the harm caused, but it is the archdiocese as well," Choi said. He said church leaders had the power to remove Wehmeyer from ministry, but "time and time again turned a blind eye in the name of protecting priests at the expense of protecting children."

"What was purported to be a best practice in monitoring and supervising wayward priests was, in reality, a sham," Choi said, according to CBS Minnesota.
