A hot topic on another thread. I find the whole thumbs down thing rather funny. In fact, after mistakenly giving a red I caused a former member here to go off the deep end after accusing me of being a jerk and ending what I thought was a friendship of sorts. I guess I was wrong on that one.

When someone gives me a red, even intentionally, I don't take it seriously. I drop it into one of two categories. Either I pissed them off to the point that they felt it was necessary to put an exclamation mark on that or they were too inept to give a credible argument on a point I was making.

I wonder how many reds I'll get for this post?

Anyhow that's my take on Reds.

I find it funny that some like to publicly report (complain, seek solace) that they got a red (but it doesn't bother them of course) but never do the same with their greens.

Is that how important a red is (or how unimportant a green is).

I dunno.

I guess I just don't care enough. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Usually me reds are given for some attack or another. and that's why I alo usually get them.

So I redded every post he made for a couple of days..............:lol::lol:.........Even went back and redded some I hadn't read.....

I like the greenies, but can live without them . Reds are a source of humour..........ha ****ing ha..........:lol:

I hate the reds personally. I'm here to discuss, I actually really enjoy it. So, while I might give a thumbs up for a post that I have nothing more to contribute to than 'me too!', a thumbs down doesn't cut it for saying 'I disagree'.

That being said, I have given thumbs downs for excessively abusive posts, where I was just completely fed up with something that was going on and it really didn't warrant more discussion. But, that is so few and far between, when compared with what I view to be abuse of the function by some, that I really would like to see it gone. Still. Just like last time this was brought up.

My 2 cents - when in my opinion a person is abusing a good system it reflects on that member. So now I do as I posted in another thread.
Unintentional is a simple error as they are located close to each other and on a tablet or laptop a mistake can easily be made.

Right-thinking people give me green ones, people who give me red ones--and there's only one poster here who does--are just wrong.

Reds used to upset me, but I got over myself. I give greenies when a post makes me laugh or it is well written, intelligent comment. Someone really has to be ignorant to get a red but even then I rarely give them. People who abuse the system don't deserve a response.

If someone gives me a red it's usually because I've said something which is just common sense.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm British. I'll just make myself another sugary, milky cuppa and everything is alright in the world once more (the Great British cuppa always calms a Brit in a crisis).

I'll sometimes give a green when I get an expected answer even if I don't agree with it.....you could call it a sarcastic green...a smart recipient knows....;-)

a better explanation would be a trolling green.

In total, so far, I've received 35 reds and 15 greens, and the vast majority of those greens have come in just the last couple of weeks or so.
