They belonged to a French businessman named Roger Baillon. He amassed a fantastic car collection through the Fifties and Sixties, but then he started to go bust and only managed to sell a few while he couldn't maintain the rest anymore.

It has to be noted that many of these cars are extremely rare and are worth quite a lot of money even in this state. The Ferrari (left car in the first picture), which is in decent condition, could be worth as much as $12 million. The Maserati on the left is a coach-built model (made by Frua of Turin) and I don't think there are more than 2 or 3 left in the world, if that.

Rare Ferrari found on French farm fetches 14 mn euros at auction

An ultra-rare Ferrari that once belonged to actor Alain Delon and was discovered rusting under a pile of old magazines on a French farm fetched 14.2 million euros ($16.2 million) at auction on Friday.

The Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider -- one of only 37 ever made -- went under the hammer at the Artcurial auction house in Paris as part of a treasure trove of vintage cars found on the farm in western France last year after lying forgotten for half a century.
