Yea!...I heard that....it came from over there.....BOOooo...there it is again...did ya hear that?

So whats with the influx of these silly `ghost hunting/paranormal` made for tv programs here lately? As if there weren`t enough garbage on television.

I guess my main concern is, who in their right mind, actually follows this made for tv nonsense? (I can picture our AnnaG and Goober here, perched on the edge of thier seats, in wide-eyed wonderment), but come on folks...get ****ing real man!

I have often thought the same thing myself, JBeee, but don't think either Goob or Anna would be fans - they are far too smart for this kind of garbage. 'Nother beef about TV is all the shows about people who hoard things, or the Nat'l Geo channel showing a bunch of punks in jail beating the livin' poop out of each other. Thank heavens for Fringe! lol

Mindless tv for a mindless populace?

(pulling Anna and Gooby`s legs there Mowich)

But seriously...if television has actually become a reflection of ourselves, as has always been claimed, I would think N. American society has bigger problems than we thought.

Speak for yourself, Comrade Lenin. I don't watch much tv at all. Most of it puts me to sleep. Stuff from NatGeo critter show and British murder mysteries keeps me awake, though. A gf actually talked me into accompanying her to the theater once to watch Blair Witch. I fell asleep about 20 minutes into it. lol "Reality" tv in general pokes my disgust bone.

That should be `Sir` JBeee Lemon...er Lenin, Ms Anna. No need to apologise....I`ve forgiven you already.

A dandy method for sleeping you have though....flick through and gaze at a dozen or so channels and its lights out, eh?

really JBeee?

Out of all the selections out there, the vast number of dating shows, remodeling shows, shows dedicated to throw pillows, shows dedicated to human oddities, gastronomic absurdities, 'guinea pigs', vapid starlets... I could go on all day....

Out of all the shows out there, you find it's the ones that are searching for ghosts that are the ones that spell the end? lol. Even though I don't watch them, at least those ones are looking outside our own four walls, past the ends of our own damn noses, and not about personal gratification of some sort.

But seriously...if television has actually become a reflection of ourselves, as has always been claimed, I would think N. American society has bigger problems than we thought.

What I find truly worrying is the explosion of gratuitous drivel in the past few years. It seems like almost every facet of human or animal - for that mattter, existance can be seen in stark detail - right there in the comfort of your living room. How far are people willing to go to expose themselves on world-wide TV?

So much for the, what was the phrase - hundred channel universe? or something to that effect. What good has it done? I have satellite and get something like 126 channels. On a good night there might be three programs on that I am interested in watching. Truly. It is a good thing I like watching football, curling and the olympic games. I can't remember the number of times that after a thorough channel search, I switched the system off and started reading a book.

I have never been in the Can/Am Idol topic- no interest in it. However, if there were an America's Got Talent topic, I would be in like a shot.

So, I guess the old saying applies - No accounting for some people's taste, mine included

Hey, Anna, do you watch Midsommer Murders, Heartbeat, and Inspector Morse - off the top of my head - I know there are a couple more?

I'm right here JBeee.

I just have become so exhausted with tv gratification. And yes... what you've brought up is one more hollow example of moronic tv. Ghost hunting, magic, etc., makes no sense to watch on tv where special effects dominate even the way a news anchor's face looks. What on earth would make someone think they can 'witness' f all via a television?

But, I still think... at least it's not about boob jobs, or what colour your couch ought to be, or what new car will complete your life best, or how to fit 500 more calories into that burger so that your company enjoys it even more.

Well, I was hopeful that something would happen to keep me awake but I just couldn't handle it after fighting sleep for 20 minutes. lol

Not so much Heartbreak, but it's entertaining sometimes. I definitely love watching Morse, Frost, New Tricks, Midsomer Murders, Sherlock Holmes, Inspector Lynley sometimes, Miss Marple, The Last Detective, Poirot, etc. when I am not doing other stuff.

TV has driven me to the computer.
But, my home page is Sympatico, and I damn near want to go back and watch TV.
Someone mentioned drivel.

"Are black t shirts in? What kind of car looks good on you? Is it really safe to eat fish? Adopt a polar bear for the holidays. You can dress like Elton John for less.

The "media" aims for the lowest common denominator. If you're not it, you won't enjoy TV ......or Simplepatico.

Then there's my YESSSSSS'S
Wings over Canada
Antiques Roadshow (the ones without Valerie......although she has nice boobs)
Pretty much any documentary
National Geographic........specially the ones with naked jumping women, (usually black women.........white ones would sue.) Hope someday the black ones will too. I can forego the naked jumping...........although
Good standup comedy......not comics that just shout..........not funny.
Movieola shorts
IFC sometimes
.........Seems I like TV more that I think I do.

Seems like, Nuggler. Wings Over Canada is a great show. I also like SCN, TVO, Knowledge, and of course just about anything done by PBS, especially Nature, and Nova.

I avoid the ones not about critters, natural phenomena like volcanoes, undersea stuff, etc.
Nova and Nature are cool, yup.

Just watched Law & Order: UK. That's pretty good.
