I got laid off today. Not fired, just laid off. Why is food so comforting? Cooking, getting your hands covered in dredge and creating different tastes. Seems so simply earthy like a prayer or High Magic.

Well maybe its a kick in the arse to get going on pagansofvirginia.com

Food is so comforting because it is one of the basic needs. Food, water, sleep and air. That warm fuzzy feeling as you drift of to sleep, the quenching of a powerful thirst, and taking a deep breath of cool clean air.

At least they waited till after Christmas to lay you off. Any chance of a call back in near future? What line of work? Got UI to fall back on?

I was putting up ads on a site.It paid 12.50 a day 6 days a week. Under the table. She might be able to afford me again in the future. The freezers full and all the bills are paid this month so Im not real worried, just back to staying home and pinching pennies a bit tighter.

I think I'll try this tomorrow night its one of my Sisters

Shrimp Mozambique
2 to 4 servings

1 pound medium shrimp ( 26-30ct ) peeled and deveined
2 packets Goya seasoning (con azafran)
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup red wine
6 cloves minced garlic
1/4 of a squeezed lemon (2 teaspoons juice)
1/2 cup water
6 Portuguese pops (bread rolls) salt
pepper
onion powder
fresh chopped parsley
crushed red pepper (or red pepper sauce) or cayenne pepper, optional

Add water and butter in a pot or large skillet and simmer on low until butter melts. Add Goya, garlic, salt , pepper and onion. Stir and simmer on low for 3-4 minutes.

Add shrimp and wine, stir, and turn up the heat. When the sauce just begins to boil, lower heat, cover, and simmer on very low heat for 4-5 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Add lemon juice and parsley. Stir, cover, and simmer on very low for 4-5 minutes.

Spoon shrimp and sauce into bowls. Serve with bread on the side for dipping into the sauce.

Sound yummy. I've taken to doing all my shrimp in wine. May have to go home open freezer a stand there and stare at it for a bit. Can't figure out what to have for dinner tonight. It's a seafood night just can't make up my mind.

You'll gett cold. I wish Salmon would go on sale. Its 6 a pound at the moment, way out of my range. Ive got 12 lbs of shrimp at 3.99 a pound and tomorrow I'll have 30 lbs chicken breast it was .99 a pound, they special ordered it for me. I still have some liver and frozen broccolli I'll be good for awhile.

Tonight I fixed my stars/moons blanket with a blind stitch. I created a Penticle with a star and hunter green rope and lil lights. I put the second coats on the gourds and I started some cross stitch. Not bad for one night.

I buy farmed salmon fillets cheap. Will try check prices. The wild salmon steaks are pricey. I'm not a big fan of them. I love fish but hate fish bones.

My altar goes up and down. I think I am going to set it up permanent this weekend. I need to get a new athame. I always end up using mine for mundane tasks. I should make my own. I need to find a good oak, yew or ash dowel to make a staff out off. There is a 400 year old oak tree near me but the law forbids removing even dead wood from an environmentally significant area. The whole natural cut by hand stuff don't fly with me. I figure it is the thought and intent which counts. If I was stuck in dogma and ritual I would become a catholic.

Talk to ya next week.

Your quite the eclectic man arent you. No task is mundane in the eyes of Goddess but you know that already. My Athane is a 6 inch sheaved doublesided blade that hangs around my neck. I bought it from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Its a great working knife. My Boline stays on my Altar and I bought it at a Pow Wow its a spear tip made of bone. I lay an obsidian arrowhead over the top of it as symbolism of an athane since mine is always with me.

I love my altars, the represent Summerlands to me, the ultimite perfection, balance, and clarity. Im glad I moved them closer to the comp, I find myself doing magic for those in need a great deal more now.

Have you ever had clam cakes? (totally not on either of our diets! deep fried dough) My Sis gave me a bag of mix and Im making some now.

When I was a little girl in Girl Scouts, Mom was our leader and she'd drive us out to camp. On the way were two places we always stopped. The glassblowing shop at the end of the bridge and Kenyons grist mill. Its one of the last working mills in the United States. Well we'd stop and pick up clam cake mix. Its one of my few happy memories as a child. Ive always found blown glass amazing and one of my favorite tastes is Kenyons.

If the sword means something to you use it. The boy I help last week used his sword. I found a set up for an altar in a very old book of shadows using a sword also. When Kris returns the book I'll scan it for you but that'll be awhile.
