God give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

I don't know where this comes from but I think it's a beautiful and inspiring prayer, whether you have faith or not...

I have had a card in my wallet for about 40 years with that prayer on it, given to me by

my dad, as he was an alchoholic and that was given to them by the A A group.

I changed the word 'god' to the word 'life', as it fit my life more comfortably, and yes

it is very inspiring, and I will keep it always.

Phillip Larkin has written some wonderful secular poems appreciating the power of the sacred, I highly recommend searching them out.

'Prayer' is about so much more than a divinity, that you're bound to find them in all manner of areas of life. Any positive thought, any inward search for strength. Any attempt to lend strength to others.

Projected empathy/love/god is the essense of prayer, I think, in that it is benevolent selfishness, charity begins at home.

Are you telling us those many long pastes that speak of an evil empire and downtrodden masses aren't, in essence, your own prayers?

Woof!

That's what I'm tellin you, exactly that. You can't pray for good unless you have contemplated bad. Try it.
