I've opted out before with a simple black and white 'no fliers' sign. The mail carrier never brought them after that. And it wasn't as glaringly bright as a red dot on my carefully chosen white mail box with coordinating brushed nickel house numbers.

I guess everyone has this problem to some degree. Nanaimo has five weekly papers that are little more than vehicles to carry dozens and dozens of damned flyers. Our big, yellow, paper recycling bag is full to bursting every two weeks with junk flyers that we don't read. These are not from Canada Post but from the local rag newspapers. I have phoned in the past to stop delivery of these papers but they still keep coming. I wonder if I can charge them with littering?
