Has anyone tried adding ACETONE to your gastank, to increase gas metrige? [mileage -how do you say it in metric?]

I was reading posts in a forum , linked to that address up top, and they had good things to say about adding acetone to their tank.

Half-an-ounce [50cents worth or less] in a tank , getting 10% or 25% better mileage, would be something. Some say it worked for them, others just a little, most said some improvement.

Any other tricks you have heard of, anyone? That website has a few interesting ones, Acetone being the easiest to try.

They used to have a discussion group, seems to have disapeared...

In respect of the term "mileage," I think that for a metric conversion it would probably be simplest to refer to it as a "fuel consumption rate" instead; I mean, we could go with something such as kilometrage, but it sounds too weird. Heh.

My uncle was trying to sell us some of these while we were there visiting.. He has many drivers that say they have seen much difference in their milage distance..

We didn't take any though... perhaps we should have tried them eh...

Are you trying to say that 25% better milleage equals 25% more volume?

I wouldn't do it in a car you expect to drive for long. Acetone can destroy a lot of things - gaskets, o rings, sensors......I know that people do it, but....
