TORONTO -- Peel Regional Police are investigating after marijuana was found inside a toy bought at a Brampton Target.
Const. Thomas Ruttan said Peel Regional Police were contacted Thursday evening by a family who bought a toy from the department store. When they opened the package they found a shrink-wrapped bag full of marijuana.
“We did a search of the store to determine if there were any more drugs in packages there,” he said. “At that point, we didn’t locate any more.”
Ruttan would not comment on the quantity or street value of the drugs. Police are now working with store management to examine security footage, he said.
“We’ll take a look at the sales of the store to determine when this package was purchased, whether not it was a return, that sort of thing. We’ll take a look at all the different aspects of what could have taken place and then go from there.”
Ruttan said while drug dealers sometimes use sophisticated schemes to pass packages, this is surprising.
“I think people should be surprised by it,” he said. “Let’s hope that our society hasn’t gone that far that we’re not surprised by things like this.”
The family found a shrink-wrapped bag full containing this marijuana inside the toy. (Peel Regional Police handout)

yeah, but then you would have had to have shopped at Target

hmmmm, if I'd known they were selling toys with pot in them, I would have.

I was at Target the other day actually. Looking to see if this giant basket was marked down better then it had been when I first saw it.

I saw a wonderful basket that would make a spectacular dog bed for my dog. He currently sleeps in my laundry basket. His choice. Prefers that over a king size bed with a down duvet. Weird little dog.

So I saw this awesome basket on sale for $89.00. Reg $119. Thought they may have marked it down even more. But no, it was actually on "sale" for $109 now. What a joke.

LOL... that was their problem from the get go, they assumed we were gullible and they were going to make a fortune in our market

it will come down eventually because it will be cheaper to sell it at a loss than it would cost to truck it back

then again, they might not have figured that one out either

but then again, they might be the first ones that the bankruptcy payouts go to as well

I never shopped at Target to begin with, I think I may have been in their stores once. But after the all the crap I've heard about the way staff has been treated, I wouldn't set foot in one now. That's just me.
