Canadian loses fingertips: Mowers recalled

A Canadian had three fingertips amputated after a cordless lawn mower started without the use of a key, prompting a recall.
If the handle of the Homelight and Earthwise 20-inch cordless electric lawn mowers is collapsed for storage, the starting cable can become stretched out, which can engage the starting mechanism, the recall notice says.
There have been three reports in Canada of the lawn mowers starting without a key, including the case of the person who lost three fingertips, distributor Great States Corporation says in the recall.
There were 395 Homelight lawn mowers sold at Home Depot and 137 Earthwise mowers sold at Federated Co-op stores across Canada between February and August.
Those who own the mowers should ensure the battery is removed and they can contact the Great States Corporation at 1-800-313-5111 or 1-800-633-1501 for a full refund.

One question I would ask is ' How far are you willing to go to not do your lawn?'

Wait , was this engineered by the same team that worked on the GM switch?
