Malicious Emails

Does anybody know of any software out there to stop or reflect emails back to the sender I have one emailer that sends me 5,000 emails of the same message at a time I just checked my email that I don’t use that much and there were 70,000 emails which takes a long time to download before I can actually use the email program luckily I use an off site program for this specific email program.

Does anybody out there know what my options would be?

I use Postini. It's amazing what it catches and filters out. It doesn't bounce
anything back to the sender though. It does catch almost all spam and it
specifies any Emails that are (or might be) virus infected.

It's a freebie from my service provider, as I'm assuming it saves their I.T. folks
much time & grief from calls from their clients.

We probably have the same ISP. SaskTel? I switched from Access Communications a few years ago, and the spam in my inbox went from about a dozen a day on average to zero. Liberalman, you don't want to bounce them back to the sender, unless what gets bounced back is a "message undeliverable" or "no such user" kind of message. Anything else just confirms to the sender that they've got a live email address. If you're getting 5000 copies of the same message at once, I'd say that email address is hopelessly compromised, I'd just delete it if possible, or never use it again.

Try "Mailwasher" at --

or --

With the free version, you are only allowed one mail account...
If you like it and decide to pay for it, tou are allowed more, both POP3 and web based accounts.

It's a small aplication (the free one) and fairly easy to set up.

You have a friens' list (contacts) that you can set up, You also can read the text in an email rigt on the server, choose to delete it without even downloading it to your PC, or, even bounce it back to the sender, where upon the sender get's a message similar to the one a server sends you when you type in a wrong address for an email...

I have been using it for eight years and you will find that spam gradually drops down to a manageable level in no time...

Yes indeedy! Bouncing them back does indeed confirm your email address & gets sold to more spammers...

If you're using telus, then you should be able to access their "Selective Download" option - depending on what email program you're using to some extent. Check under Files in your menu for it, or the Help section. Using it permits you to delete anything you don't want while its still in Telus's mail box for your account (plus a couple of other useful options) before downloading your mail. Spammers eventually give up on addresses that show up as undelivered and deleted at the ISP domain.

If you want to find what & where they really are, D/L "Sam Spade" - freeware. But that's very time consuming, although fun. Heh!

If they are all coming from the same email address, couldn't you just set up a filter in your email client and specify that ALL emails from that sender are to be automatically put in the Trash folder? Or if you are using a webmail service, if you identify a few of those emails as spam, the service should block them in the future.
