HERE

^^ that is the one I am looking at, there is limited stock and sale ends in a few days.

Its called: Toshiba Intel Centrino Core Duo T2250 1.73GHz Laptop (A100-036)

I really like the looks of it, but sometimes it can be packaged to look like it has amazing specs, but then it turns out to be wrong.

I am a software person, not a hardware person, I know limited stuff about the hardware behind my software, so I am in need for tech savvy opinions!

Here is a quick few stats:

Processor: Intel Centrino Core Duo T2250, 1.73GHz

Screen: 15.4", Widescreen XGA TFT With TruBrite

RAM: 1GB DDR RAM (limit is 4 GB)

Drives: DVD+/-RW Super-Multi Double Layer (aka, DVD burn capable slot)

Battery: 4 hours, 6-Cell Lithium-Ion

Audio: Software Sound 16-Bit Stereo

Fax: (doesn't really matter to me) 56K V.92

OS: Windows Vista Premium (yay!)

Warranty: 1 Year Parts & Labour

Additional info at that link at the top of this post.

It looks like a rather good deal to me for $799.......what ever you buy, go with the 3 year warranty.

8 mb video card (integrated) would only be a problem if your going to use it for something outside of normal laptop use.

You should buy me one too at that price!

Thanks Jay.

Yes, I like the price, and I am using an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 rate now, lol, pretty old!

I have another question, I had a desktop that crashed a few months ago (reason I am buying new laptop) and the Hard Drive was saved. I have an 80 GB chip, can I get it cleared and insert it in?

I also don't know if the RAM is ruined or not.

When my old desktop died, it was a motherboard virus/crash/failure thing.

so I may be able to pimp it up if its expandable.

I am close to buying this...

The person I thought was a spammer, is not a spammer?

Ok, well its been purchased and I am heading into the city in 1 hour to pick it up at Future Shop.

Do these laptops at FS come with Vista & software pre-installed? Or do I have to go through that hell when I get home with the product?

I haven't installed an OS in a long time.

Westman, if you are trying to salvage data from the old drive... buy a USb 2.0 hard drive enclosure from futureshop etc. You can then plug it into your laptop and access those old files.

Ok, well after 1.5 hours, Vista is setup.

This is going to take awhile to get used to

I already have an external hard-drive case, if I want the old files.

Now I have shish load of software to download.

Vista is going to take awhile to get used to.

Love the new laptop though! Its awesome! Fast!

So tips on a first-timer on Vista would be appreciated.

Ok, so I like to watch videos at the CTV Broadband Network at ctv.ca, and I have all the plugins for FF, and Vista came with the latest Windows Media player 11, and CTV is not recognizing it!!!

I don't think Vista is compatible with Windows software.

Well I tried to download the last version of Media Player, and it won't let me downgrade, so to speak.

So I can't watch the CTV Broadband Network anymore!

I am going to so complain to them, to get the thing upgraded.
