Those 'bots' that they send to use personal computers as part of a network can be thwarted by simply unplugging the line [from your phone jack to the computer]. They will not want to use a computer that is not available all the time. This likely applies to the hi-speed and hi-speed light modems , because they ignore the dial up connections altogether.

BTW, how are the anti-virus software programs working these days? Still getting infected, or does spending an hour or two a day updating them take care of that? CTP OTS !!!

OMG distributed denial of service attack! ditch windows and get linux!

AntiVirus packaged now come bundled with even more junk, now you get spyware protection, antiphishing protection, encryptions software etc. I stick with AVG, it's free and takes up a minimal ammount of system resources. I update it once a week. Norton & McAfee are bloated and I avoid them like syphilis.

Durka,I also use AVG. I have been getting notices that it will be discontinued on the 15th of Jan.Do you know of any system that is comparable and at the same price?

AVG is discontinuing version 7.1, however version 7.5 is still free.
