Hello
My friend asked me for help! Please help me to help him!

He is a TV director. He has a working experience in TV production and commercials. He also lectured to many students in TV production and related subjects. He has a good experience in photographing and video montage.

He is coming to Canada, first his colleagues told him to go to Quebec, but he now nothing in French (Except French Kisses ) so WE NEED YOUR HELP TO TELL US WHERE TO GO WITH SUCH TV EXPERIENCE IN ENGLISH SPEAKING PROVINCES?

Thanking you in advance

To the United States? If he wants to be successful, he should not go to Canada.

The immigration into Canada is organized mostly to attract a manual labor in the country. Your friend might end up working at a restaurant, if he has no connections.

Shaddup and get back to cleaning the bathrooms or no Chicken McNuggets for you at break time slacker! heh heh heh

You sound like another disgruntled lazy mooch who came here thinking everything was going to be handed to you on a platter, only to find that you have to work your butt off if you want to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

Sorry I missed the explination you gave for living in Canada and not the US. Could you post it here please?

There are a few choices actually. Toronto is probably the first choice but consider also, Vancouver and Halifax as they also have some good infrastructure in both tv and film established. Probably, there will have to be some education involved once here to acclimatize to some of the methods used and as a way to start to establish a few lines on some networking connections in the industry.

Though you don't mention where it is your friend is coming from, there may be some advantages available depending on cultural background that hasn't been considered yet. I know Toronto has a growing alternative cultural based programming sector that is hungry for new talent. Could be that is a place to get a foot in the door. Not sure about Vancouver but I expect there is an expanding Asian market for advertising and programming there.

Best of luck!

If he had expierence in the industry I find it odd he would not have discussed this with his peers before moving . Canada is a top film and tv country. With qualifications any major city would afford him work. Once established the city is of no consequence.
