Many right-wing Christians vilify the poor, in direct contradiction to the teachings of Jesus. Why the hypocrisy?

In an age where your average Republican politician is thumping the Bible with one hand and trying to strip food from the mouths of the poor with the other, it’s become a sad cliché to point out how little the most outspoken Christians have in common with their charity-preaching, forgiveness-loving messiah. It’s only gotten worse in recent years, with the followers of the man who cured lepers threatening to shut down the government if Obama insists on giving more people access to healthcare.

Well, if you believe you're absolutely right beyond all possibility of error, and that all those who don't believe as you do are doomed to the fires of Hell for all eternity, it's a very short step to believing you have both the right and the duty to stick your nose into other people's business.

Because most poor people in the West today are poor through their own fecklessness and laziness.

Yawn, another Christian-hater thread.
No Wally, it is a legitimate question that only pin points the ultra right wing republican Christians who are making illegal to feed the poor and to be homeless in so many American cities. It is not surprising that you would be upset by that question since you are one of those nasty people who supports those who are waging war on the poor. These actions are in direct opposition of everything Jesus stood for.

Except for one thing, I don't believe the fires of Hell are part of the equation.

Repost but still apropos...
It said 'after' not 'instead of'

When you 'predict' there will be a certain type of 'people' and it doesn't happen then the rest of the book is worthless since it prides itself on being able to do that accurately.
Some would say it was a cop out to say there are some that claim to be followers but fails to feed the poor. They do not get to take part of the 1,000 years and if they are alive they get to experience the grave with their eyes still working. When Satan is released the gates of hell remain locked and are only opened at the Great White Throne. Just as death covered all the sins of the people in the grave that are asleep hell does the same for the one who had not died before the return. They are on the shores of the fiery lake but they end up alive in the new earth with the rest of the people instead. The fire never goes out unless the new earth has an ending where people follow where holy angels go.
When the prophecy says 2/3 of the world's population are going to the grave within a few hours then that is what has to happen or God isn't involved. You would have to be more than a little crazy to even thing about how you could do it just to claim to being God.

Since when is it illegal to be homeless or feed homeless?

It's not. But as long as they can get the idiots to believe that Ultra Right Wing Republican Christians are trying to make it illegal then they have done their job.

Cliffy believes it 100%.

"We hope he feeds. He has a very valuable role in the community,” said Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler. "All we're saying is he can feed the next block over. He can feed at the church. We want them to be in safe secure settings. We wanted them to be in a sanitary matter. We them to have facilities available before and after."

No No No.... he wants to feed them where he wants to feed them.

90-Year-Old Florida Man Charged With Feeding Homeless Says He Won't 'Give Up' - ABC News

Some people where the label Christian as a means to an end. They want to be seen as a christian, without doing any of the work for it.

If it's a politician, chances are it's only a label used to get the votes.

It's not because they are feeding homeless it's because of food handling and distribution laws so keep on trying. It's right in your article you never read.
