"Churchianity"

"To some church members, religion is a rite or a ritual or a legalistic and lifeless form, a liturgical system marked by meaningless and wearisome verbiage. There is a lot of religious garbage in our so-called conservative and evangelical churches also. There is a ceaseless quoting of tired adjectives and a jumble of pious platitudes ... My point is that today there is a great deal of "churchianity" that is bland and bloodless, tasteless and colorless. It is devoid of warmth and feeling. There is no personal relationship with Christ that is meaningful and productive." "Churchianity" Revealed - Thru the Bible with Dr. J. Vernon McGee

What is "churchianity"? How does it differ from Christianity?

Jesus, no two Christians can agree. Don't ask us.

I understand Pope Francis is on line.
What is a Christian? By whose definition do we classify them.

What line is the Pope on? A cloths line, a tight rope or party line?

You can find some "Christian" to argue just about any, and all, points of Christian belief.

The person you depend on for your viewpoint has no better basis for his beliefs that any of the rest of us do. ALL Christian churches should have the Bible as the basic document of their beliefs and practices.

If they decide that the Bible rules no longer apply, then they have left Christianity.

Really... interesting. So you support everything in Leviticus then, and as a Christian, you follow it all to a T, right?

Gotta get rid of those evil spirits and such! Nothing like a good smudge of sage to get them on their way.

Beats a sprinkle of holy water and an incantation.

Of course! That's the PC way man.

Seeing Natives smudge and stuff... "That's cool man...that is their religion... we should celebrate and be all cultured and open."

Seeing a priest sprinkle holy water .... "Phucking dumb pedos! Stupid Religion!"

Well, when you rape children for centuries and manipulate the government to make sure you get away with it, when it all comes out, you're gonna take a certain amount of heat for a while.

Hell your ancestors aren't taking the heat for all the massacres, rapes, and mutilations they committed for centuries. Is it because they were thoroughly azz kicked?

Pretty much. There was a time your society regarded and spoke of us in the most brutal and denigrating way possible. A few decades after we ceased to be a problem, they lightened up.

Maybe folk'll treat religions the same way when they cease to be a problem.

Nonsense. The "noble savage," as I just said to Eagle, was the object of the most vicious hatred and defamation for a centuries. It didn't wear off until several decades after we were completely crushed.

If you'd like, I'll post some of the quotes from the great and the good of American history on the subject of how subhuman Indians are and how the only alternative is "extermination," which was the word they used before "genocide" was coined.

Christianity is a soft target. That is all. Attacking Christianity is just an outlet for the weak and miserable.

Missed my point, not surprising at all. Most "natives" do, with Bear being an exception. Check out the history BEFORE "whitey" came along.

Haven't heard Kipling's "White Man's Burden" recited recently. Is it because the poem was welcomed by Roosevelt in 1899 in his expansionist wars against those pesky Spanish; and, imperialism is yesterday's dream? Or, has it been dropped for the more palatable "New World Order"?
