The damp weather in New Brunswick has led to a growing population of earwigs in the province, says a Fredericton exterminator.
John Robichaud has been an exterminator in the province for more than 30 years. He said 25 years ago there were virtually no earwigs in New Brunswick but he has gotten more calls to deal with the insect over the last five years.
The amount of rain the province has been getting this summer has created perfect conditions for the insects, Robichaud said.
"Humidity always makes things grow. Therefore it increases the food for insects and the more food there is the larger the population," Robichaud said.
