My question is this: These women are victims why aren't the abusers being held accountable? Domestic Abuse is suppose to be a crime, if those whom immigrate to Canada choose to follow their backward ethos of beating their wives then they should be imprisoned not protected by the community. The females have taken the first step, now it's up to the Police and Community Leaders to get this message out: We will not tolerate Domestic Abuse regardless of what your Religion or Tribal customs are.
Tracy, Canada is not a finishing school for recalcitrant cultures. I expect the immigration department to be aware of ongoing difficulties in newly established immigrant communities. And respond to them. If our community and social services here aren't making a dent I expect some ministry changes. If that's not part of the job description it should be.
