So what, is he going to blow through a surplus and give huge tax breaks to his buddies that help get him elected then try and start a war somewhere?

No possible way for him to be worse than what we have now.

The funny part is the Conservatives and Liberals are running scared. The reason is they
were arrogant enough to think they were the only ones with a chance. Both Liberals and
Conservatives have used the same old argument, we are the only answer for Canadians.
People are taking a look, what do they see? Both have sold us out in every trade deal
since the 90's, they both cater to the large corporations with ongoing tax breaks and the
endless tax deferments. Both are continually fingered for an endless stream of scandals.
Both tinker with the problems that face us and announce the same contributions of funds
over and over again to make people think they are doing something. Both are like deer in
the headlights as a man with a cane comes along and calls them for their political sins
and strikes a chord with the average voter. If Jack can continue to increase his support for
another four days, the other two could have a long night when the ballots are counted.
No I don't think Jack will be Prime Minister, but he could be the official opposition leader and
Harper may well not get his majority which would appear to Canadians as a defeat. God
how many times has he tried?
We don't even want to get into the Greek Issues, they are a whole different matter, In Europe
we have Liberal, Conservative, and Socialist administrations in economic trouble. The reason
is they believe they are entitled to live above their means. The Greeks they have thought that
for years regardless of who is in power left or right. Germany is Conservative and they have
all kinds of problems, Italy is in a lot of trouble as well and they have an alleged sex offender
and allegedly guilty of other crimes, and he is a conservative.

Was watching some playoff hockey today while Eastering, and enjoyed the mix of Liberal/Conservative bashing ads. But I was kind of shocked that NDP were able to take a different approach and put the focus on their own leader. Sure, it was ultra-cheese, but I have to give Layton a smidgen of props for not being a pussy and taking responsibility like a national leader would.

Jack has been hard at it, bashing both Libs and Cons. This must be a new Ad.

Maybe. I couldn't hear much of it at the time, but I didn't see any of the competition in the commercial, and at the end of it was Layton getting a raucous applause from his supporters.

Yeah, that may be true. But maybe that's just how open I am in changing my position as the parties change theirs. With the right shift the NDP are moving into Liberal territory as the Liberals move into Conservative territory and the Conservatives move further right wing.

Not in B.C. The provincial Non Democratic Parasites make Jack look almost normal but at the end of the day he is still a dipper, and they have a bad track record in every province that has flirted with socialist mismanagement.
If compared to the US , Harper would be a Democrat, Iggy a far leftard and Layton would be a commie. Or worse.

I think I've finally decided to vote NDP. The left fringe has been beside themselves since Harper became PM. Maybe Jack has a chance so why why not taunt the right fringe for a while?

Actually Saskatchewan under the NDP did OK, from what I recall. They got their house in order but at the same time, they didn't see a lot of economic growth because the NDP wasn't very business friendly and used tax increases as well as spending cuts to get their budget balanced (if memory serves they did it slightly before Ralph Klein's Conservatives did it in Alberta). Saskatchewan's NDP however, seems a lot different (i.e. much more fiscally conservative in their outlook) than the BC, Ontario or federal NDP.

And for all his posturing in the election ads, I wouldn't trust Jack Layton to run an icecream truck, let alone the country.

So what your telling me is that me and Steve might actually be able to count on you for support come election day? :)

I know I would if they were actually fiscally conservative without being socially conservative.

But they don't appear to be doing such a good job with either. It's really an enigma to me as to why conservatives even vote conservative.

It's tough to rate what any party will do when tethered by minority.
