In Toronto about thirty or so years ago gays and lesbian activities were hidden from society and they had to go to secretive places to get their enjoyment like bathhouses and private clubs.
At Halloween we all would celebrate the gay parade as they marched down Yonge Street and all the normal people would be on the rooftops christening them with rotten eggs as they marched by.
And we all lived in peace.
Then the unthinkable happened three gay men kidnapped a twelve year old local shoeshine boy performed all kinds of homosexual sex acts then drowned the little boy in the sink
People were horrified so much that they demanded the city to do something so the police started the raids on the bathhouses and private gay clubs and started charging the gays and lesbians and all this was covered by the news for maximum humiliation.
After that episode the gays and lesbians decided to become more proactive and fight back.
Since then sex education in schools have to teach that homosexuality and anal same sex is normal.
Since then same sex couples have legal rights in being included in partners company benefits.
Since then same sex couples have the legal right to adopt a heterosexual baby and social adoption agencies do not have the legal right to deny them.
Same sex couples have the legal right in Toronto to get married under the Marriage Act.
The gay and lesbian activists were powerful enough to get the mighty Conservative party to back off their election promise on re-opening same sex marriage laws.
And the gay and lesbian activists won the right to have the Gay Pride parade moved to Yonge Street that is happening this weekend.
What happened to the little innocent twelve-year-old shoeshine boy who was named after a religious figure?
He lies in a beautiful grave somewhere in Toronto while this great city goes to hell in a hand basket.
