If the leaders come out swinging, who would win?

I think it might be Layton. He does seem healthy. Iggy seems to have a bigger build though, at least from the impression I get on TV. Harper seems too giddy. He'd be creamed. May wouldn't stand a chance, unless she could get feminine immunity. And Duceppe, I'm not sure. He seems a little sturdy. Maybe a match for Layton? Maybe Iggy?

Anyway, seeing how seriously I take partisan politics, we might as well just through them in a ring, let them come out swinging, and see who's left standing.

Imagine the international image this would give us when every election the world get to see the black, red, blue and purple face of our new PM. No one would mess with Canada then. He'd be an inspiration to the nation's fighting spirit.

I'd say Layton too, if he can get in close, and stay in close. Thick but compact.

He's got to stay inside the full reach of Harper & Iggy though, or they'd
pummel him before he could reach them. Duceppe would have to be
matched with someone of a similar build to shine, but in a freakshow
like you're proposing...he's out with May.

So what do you think, Ron? Seeing how partisan our system's become already, it really wouldn't be much of a drop in standards now, would it? We're almost that low already.

Machjo, strangely enough I remember reading a sci fi story with a similar theme. This was during Idi Amin’s reign in Uganda. I think at that time Nyerere was the leader of Tanzania.

Rather than invade Uganda and chase Amin out of Uganda (as it actually happened), Nyerere did not want a war, so Amin challenged Nyerere to a fight, with Amin’s one hand tied behind his back. Amin was a huge big man, Nyerere was a small man, so it evened out the odds somewhat.

But most of the story described their fight. It was quite a fascinating story.

So what do ya think, SJP? It really wouldn't be much lower than the partisan squabbles this country is facing already, would it?

I think that would depend upon whether it is one on one duet or whether it is a free for all. Then in the free for all, whether it is every man for himself, or two or three gang up on one etc.

It would be an interesting ballet (and battle, I wrote ‘ballet’ by mistake, but on second thought, that looks like an appropriate word)) to watch, though.

Even a general free for all wouldn't be too much of a downgrade from what we have now.

Layton is by far the more fit and bigger man, however, the guy is waayy full of hot air... He's a talker and more often than not, those guys get shamed.

All in all, my money would be on Duceppe... He's had his back against the wall for a long time now and I'd wager he'd come out of the gates like a rabid dog. Harper - it's tough to say. He may have a few tricks up his sleeve (feign injury and then chop 'em in the throat). Ignatieff? Doubtful. He is a self described 'cosmopolitan' which translates into a metrosexual.. He might stand a fighting chance if he's able to sneak his purse into the fight and clock the closest opponent (with his eyes squeezed shut and screaming like a school-girl).

Oh, the most accurate description so far. Good work. I could so visualize that one.

And what about May?

I'd go with Duceppe, too. He wouldn't be one to pull punches and he is cold n calculating. Harpy would be bagged after round 1, Iggy might do ok as would Laymton, but I'd say Duceppe. May could spectate

So are you saying May would be the smartest of the bunch?

That would depend on whether she'd think of spectating or joining in. lol

I don't think there are many unintelligent pols. It's just that they tend to be out of touch with regular Canadian life.

Thanks... Sadly, not only can I visualize it, but based on the childish and pre-pubescent bickering exemplified by all leaders, I often do visualize them clawing and scratching at one another.

What I like about the charicature here is how you incorporated parts of their personalities into it... especially Harper's.

I think if we adopted your system, we'd still have a Lawyer in the
PM's office, but it would be that Alberta Lawyer Willie DeWitt....

I was at that DeWitt/Cooper Fight. It was Ugly....and Brief.

Just imagine all the party leaders at the gym and pumping themselves up with steroids in anticipation of the upcoming election. That would present serious competition for hockey night in Canada if it's in winter.
