That's just business as usual in politics. The interesting part is that it was taken to court. Most people wouldn't consider this corruption, this is just the difference between big party politics and grass roots politics.
As far as I know, the NDP is the only party which still respects its local members decisions on these issues. More than that, they are the only party which puts in an effort to find a qualified female candidate in every riding, since one of the biggest barrier to women in politics is the self nomination stage.
There are better things to villify politicians with. Like pushing through legislature labeled as "tough on crime" when all the expert witnesses but one testify that it will degrade the safety of Canadians.

Perhaps your right. Why point out this act of sleaziness and lying about it when there is so much larger garbage we are have having to face with this government and the direction they wish to take this country?
But hey, we might as well get sober with news like this. That the facts are the Conservatives are nothing to what they preach to be (which was the intent of my posting), and it's all part of a pattern that for some reason Harper's supporters keep themselves looking the other way.
My only position is that one of the other parties (minus the Bloc) defeat this government in an election.

If you can forgive the Bloc their sovereigntist beliefs, then they happen to be one of the most principled parties on parliament hill. I believe many conservative voters are disappointed with what the party has become, but in comparison to the other parties, most people who identify with conservative ideology would still prefer them to alternatives.

Wish I knew Canadian politics - but I do not. Therefore, I could not honestly make an informed assessment of this or any other political party.
However, I know my USA politricks. Woops, I mean politics. And the CONservatives are the most dishonest and unprincipled people anywhere. Sad to say but true. And it is a truth that cannot be denied by anyone.

It's regrettable I suppose but the ancient and some might argue biological imperative that the wealthy and powerful prosper at the expense of the weak and the poor is the fundamental story behind all human "government". As someone here has noted, the Canadian hiccups of revealed corruption are by and large "tepests of the teapot" variety compared to the shenanigans of many others.
We've resigned our rights as citizens to the power/war mongers that seize power at every opportunity and have done so for thousands of years.
The "status quo" that inflicts us is the never-ending battle between the exclusively self-interested and the rest of us......
