Canadians have witnessed billions of dollars stolen wasted and mismanaged by successive Canadian governments. We’ve watched the Conservatives “ram down our throats” (Brian Mulroney) commenting on the GST…

We’ve watched Jean Chretién symbolically tear up a piece of paper while while saying… “Da GHestTEE…gone!” Sure….bullshyte.

HRDC an arguable amount but in the neighbourhood of a billion…gone.

Millons (55 million if memory serves) lost and wasted on computers for the DND.

Millions to Chretién’s buddies in Quebec…ADSCAM.

Millons on helicopter purchasing contract defaulted on by the government with hundreds of millions in penalties paid by Canadian taxpayers.

Millions on submarines that sink, catch fire…require upgrades (using technology that’s fifteen years old…)

Billions on a gun registry of absolutely no value of any kind.

The list is lengthy…and virtually nothing done and no jail time worth mentioning handed to our “leaders” who avow responsibility to the electorate…

I have a solution and surely in a “democracy” the voice of the people would be heard and measures taken…right????

Let’s turn the tables on the thieves in Ottawa and Toronto…they (provincial governments and federal governments employ a “claw-back” on disability and other social benefits when there’s an over-lap…

On the basis of an independent audit, the amount of money squandered by politicians would be deducted from the pension pool these scoundrels live off for years after they’ve screwed everyone….

No matter if Lieberal Konservative or the Marijuana Party….the sitting government wastes loses squanders, mismanages etc. some few millions or billions…that same amount is deducted from MPP and MP’s pension plans…

Think that any slimey Canadian politician would care to be held accountable and actually support this kind of measure?

Sure and pigs can fly…

Nice rant MikeyDB.

What do you suggest?

Thanx ITN...

Civil disobedience. Oka, Ipperwash, Caledonia,FLQ, it's a combination of elements that produce or act as agents of change in a society. It is the government who determines the character of communications between the people and the administration.

NOT violent civil disobedience....

Love it! A little revolution now and then is a healthy thing.

Apply the law.

Consider: Stockwell Day and Guliano Zachardelli and Anne McClellan were the people responsible for managing CSIS and the RCMP; if the standard of law that applies to negligence of a private citizen where this negligence resulted in brining harm to another citizen… should just as equally apply.

All the “executives” involved in mismanaging the security of an individual Canadian, who was subsequently incarcerated in a foreign prison where he was tortured, both American and Canadian should be held as accountable as any reasonable man would consider in the case of any private citizen.

If not why not?

So you hold your little revolution and oust the elected officials and replace them with what? Elected officials?

sounds kind of pointless.

Canadians are apathetic. Canadian politicians have no accountability. We need a better system of election. We need a better system of gov't. We need better polticians. We need ..........
Not asking for much are you?
Ontario and BC are at least looking at better system of elections. BC started out years ago looking at Single Transferable votes and had a committee of average people take 3 years to hash out a plan. I don't know how long Ontario's been thinking about it. The rest of Canada?
Also, between BC and Alberta, there are a lot of people thoroughly disgusted with Ottawa and I bet it wouldn't take to much for them to tell Ottawa to foff. Canada couldn't handle that as Alberta, Ontario, and BC are the bread winners of Canada and on top of that Ontario thinks it may be on the verge of being a have-not province.

Maybe it ain't a democracy, but maybe a......errrrr, Monarchy?

In a monarchy a democracy is a placebo given out by permission to the monarch's people who are exposed to the advantages of democracy, and to emulate what they can achieve without permission if they had the courage to do it.

So Andy are you agreeing that Canadians don't have the temperament to participate in a democratic system...that they need to be led by a monarch or a president or a dictator....no thinking allowed!!?

Does the option of which form of getting screwed over appear on the ballot when Canadians vote?

Then the vote is pointless and dialogue identifying strategies to address this nonesense is pointless as well...
