Damn it, Five, we HAD a national flag, the Canadian Ensign, and a fine flag it was!
I was only being a brat, Colpy.

You know how much of a monarchist I am—of course I would have been a fan of the Red Ensign. I mean, it had our coat of arms on the damned thing, so of course it was individual to Canada! Of course it could've been part of our identity! I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the new National Flag, too.

Hey, s_lone
what does "nation" mean in this context? Is this really a change or does it just give Quebec a title?
This sounds like it is not a new nation but some special status in Canada. If that is the case I think it is acceptable, if it makes Quebecers happy, but don't see what difference it will make but to make all the other provinces wonder why they don't have nifty titles. Please excuse my ignorance if this is somehow obvious.
I'm not quite sure a special status for Quebec would be the right thing to have... I mean, if we are part of Canada, we should have the same rights and privileges than the other provinces... That's what I believe. But I also believe ALL provinces should have more autonomy and be more independant.

I agree....some things get done more efficiently at the provincial level. It is also easier to try new things without having to impose them on an entire country. If something works for one province other provinces can make similar changes.
