Global Warming DENIERS

The Global Warming Lobby is heavily funded by Exxon. Exxon Esso is the last remaining oil company to still deny global warming exists. Nuff said.

The Global Warming Lobby

-The Financial Post published a full page letter 'to PM Harper' denying GW - a letter signed by 60 scientists.
The letter is classic climate change denial and among the 60 signatories -- only 19 of whom are Canadian -- are the most prominent climate change sceptics, as they are frequently called.
[ read more at the bottom on this - eg. of a signatory]

And the CEI ran some ads this month too, things are really heating up -
The Competitive Enterprise Institute TV ads denying GW:

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), an anti-regulation advocacy group that has received substantial funding from ExxonMobil, has begun running 60-second TV spots apparently timed as an attempt to counter favorable public response to the new film that centers on Al Gore’s communication of the global warming problem. With this action, CEI continues to act in accord with a long-standing communications strategy, developed by global-warming denial cadre in conjunction with oil industry interests, designed to misrepresent the scientific issues and manufacture an enhanced sense of scientific uncertainty about the global warming problem

---------------------------
Even the USA Senate Environment and Public Works Committee has been giving radio interviews and getting their message out that GW is not real or a threat or have anything to do with fossil fuels if it is.

Americans need to ask why Senators are doing this work of the oil companies instead of making them responsible for the emission from their products!!

This article examines their stance, with this comment:
First they denied the climate was changing. Then they denied that climate change is man-made. Now Inhofe and Co. are prepping the next stage: acknowledge it’s happening, even acknowledge it’s man-made problem, but deny that there is anything we can do about it. It’s a convenient just-keep-attacking-the-science strategy, as long as you can wait the populace out.

K - These are all recent attacks on the science of global climate change. It is partly in response to the Al Gore movie just released to huge acclaim at the Cannes film fest, and partly over the new found public voice over climate change - it seems most people want to do something now to reduce emission from fossil fuels.

The recent "full page letter" in the FP , to PM Harper actually, had 60 signatures denying global warming.

They are mostly getting oil company money - here is one example, more at the FIRST link above

Sallie Baliunas is a non-Canadian signatory to the deniers letter. She is a Harvard-Smithsonian Institute astrophysicist who has been giving global warming deniers scientific cover since the mid-1990s. She is a senior scientist at the George C. Marshall Institute (received $310,000 from Exxon Mobil). She co-wrote (with colleague Willie Soon, who did not sign the skeptics letter) the Fraser Institute pamphlet "Global warming: a guide to the science." (The Fraser Institute receives $60,000 a year from Exxon Mobil.) Baliunas is "enviro-sci" host of TechCentralStation.com (received $95,000 from Exxon Mobil) and is on science advisory boards of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow ($252,000) and the Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy ($427,500). She has given speeches before the American Enterprise Institute ($960,000) and the Heritage Foundation ($340,000). The Heartland Institute ($312,000) publishes her op-ed pieces.

One last thought - and its a doozey!! -
Global Warming Deniers are dangerous and evil - on the scale of holocaust deniers, and they should be prosecuted as such.
If not, at least held LIABLE , and the oil corporations that fund them should be forced to ante up for reparations in the future , if and when damages and lives lost from global warming climate changes.
