That other* forgotten issue of major importance, threatening our very existence, is Missle Defence.

Both the Libs and CPC Conservatives have cozied up to the Americans on this without telling us, as if in defiance to the stated opposition Martin and Harper used to wave a flag about.

It is alive and well, but not a good thing. Missle Defence, Star Wars, will be set up on Canadian soils unless we keep political power out of the hands of Liberals and Conservatives. Even another minority govt. will likely keep us safe from this betrayal.

“Stephen Harper has indicated his willingness to go back to the missile defence table with the Americans,” said Steven Staples of the Polaris Institute. “The clampdown on information from the government raises suspicions about Paul Martin’s intentions on missile defence as well.”

The Council of Canadians - The xenophobic, full of hatred, insecure (way the hell out there) left wing Mel Hurtig sub-culturists with their "Vanishing Country" manifesto, campaign against Canada having sovereignty (their own voice) in the event of a missile heading towards Canada. Makes sense I guess :?

First of all, we are already involved in missile defense through NORAD, as we share all information gathered with the United States.

Secondly, all the Americans wanted from us was moral support, which we should have given, considering the existence of the NORAD treaty, the fact that we've been hiding under the US wing for 40 years, and the high-tech jobs involvement could bring us.

Thirdly, missile defense is a move against CHINA, no matter what the necessities of diplomatic niceties say about "rogue states". China is militarily aggressive, moving rapidly into space, and is, in reality, a fascist state and the greatest danger to western civilization that exists today. We need to stay ahead of them militarily, and, considering their size, that can only be done technologically.

I'm all for missile defense.
