Ya know, using the Republican party as a frame of reference, I have to tell you, I think the Cons in Canada are centrists

The Greens have a good shot at coming second in some Alberta ridings (Macleod and others) This will be a psychological breakthrough and lead to more media coverage in future. The Green vote is on track to be double that of the NDP in Calgary and better than the NDP throughout the province with the exception of Edmonton.

What does that say about the NDP?

They're polling less than 20% in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and could well get shut out AGAIN in Saskatchewan.

That's just amazing to me.

It says the NDP is a joke. ...despite having such great high profile candidates in Canada such as Svend Robinson. And this is after 17 Federal elections!!!

There will be a smug satisfaction if the Greens can poll ahead of Trudeau's NEP Liberals in a couple Alberta ridings. It's enough to make some Cons vote Green.

Agreed. Stephen Harper's policy platform would fit much more easily in a Democrat party platform book than in a Republican one. He'd be seen as a slightly conservative Democrat. If he was Republican, he'd be seen as a John McCain Republican. Yes, a John McCain Republican.

Following American politics fairly closely, I find the close associations that some make between Harper and Bush to be a bit odd.

From an American frame of reference, Harper is merely a slightly conservative Democrat relative to Martin's liberal Democrat.

It's all a matter of persepctive Triple, if you're a communist, everybody to the right of you is can be anything from a conservative to a neo-con to a fascist, and in most cases, the far left lumps them all together. I agree, Harper is a mild Conservative Democrat in the States, comparing him with Bush (actually Bush's neo-con advisors) is almost comical.
