i understand this is a biased poll i am testing my theory that this is an NDP forum(a forum that most people like the the NDP but not exclisivly NDP).

say why you like the party you vote for.

ps i made i mistake making the poll i excluded other and not sure. if any editor comes along fix it. for now just post if you are one of those

You forgot some of the other parties and never included "other" as a choice, meitme. I mentioned that we had a couple members of the CAP here...I believe one of them was even a candidate in the last election.

If I had to characterise this board, and I think I'm qualified than you simply because I've been here longer and know the people, I would say that it is primarily left-leaning, but not NDP. Most here will likely choose NDP in your poll at this point in time because the Liberals have moved so far to the right in recent years, but some will undoubtedly vote strategically for the Liberals in the next election, just as some Liberals, if they are paying attention to their own ridings at all, will strategically vote NDP.

In most of Canada, support is relatively soft for any given party. This board is no exception to that rule.

u know i suited this then figured out i screwed up. i forgot i never did what i meant to.( i was planning on going to the the last election website and see every party or at least of an other not sure and indepent part).

i do trust your judgement of the board but what i meant is that they would come out NDP in this vote.

did you vote?

Yes, I voted...and it won't surprise anyone here to hear that I voted NDP. My point was not that I had no one to vote for, but that the poll would not give you the scope of responses you were after.

you do not understand. if he wanted to vote in another in another catatgory he woulld not have voted. you see he was talking about other party's and did say he was conedering them in anohter post. so it is not crazy to say he may have wanted to vote for someone else.

Because I was asked if I voted in the poll.

No, I said others should consider other parties in another post. I said that because there were some who were suggesting that there are only two parties that count, the Liberals and the Conservatives. The thing is that democracy doesn't work that way. There are a variety parties representing a variety of viewpoints.

Part of the reason, a large part, that fewer Canadians are voting is that they don't feel they are represented by the choices they are given. Most of the choices are never mentioned in the media though, and the message that only votes for Liberals or Conservatives count come through loud and clear.

I doubt anybody in this thread could give an accurate representation of the party platforms of the NDP, Bloc, CAP, or any of a half-dozen other parties. Hell, I'll bet most have no real grasp of the Liberal or Conservative platforms. I'll also bet that everybody in this thread has mumbled something along the lines of, "Politicians, they're all the same," at some point in their lives.

I voted NDP as there was another thread in federal elections forum but I will post same answer here.

NDP,as the last election the top 3 were all within a few hundred votes and Gurment Grewal just squeaked in, I think he will be toast this time and it will be between NDP and Libs.

My riding did go NDP again in last years by-election (provincially) and stayed that way in last May's provincial election, so I think they have a good chance this time to take riding. Plus it will be the same main 3 running again in this riding.

My riding has gone Conservative in both Federal and provincal elections and is most likley to stay that way. Newfoundland is Liberal except the St.John's Area. which two conservatives won in.

Just my opinion........I vote Liberal in the last election

Its too bad that when we vote for a Prime Minister, we have to take his party. I still think the countries best bet is Mr Martin. I just do not like Steven Harper's approach and Jack Laton reminds me of a rat (if you think Paul Martin flip flops, how about Mr Laton).
After all is said and done - is one party really any better than the next???? Go back a few years and we could use the likes of JFK, Marg Thatcher, PET..... someone strong to run the country and not put up with any of the bulls#@$.
That person is still out there and none of the current leaders have strong leadership abilities. How about Alberta's Ralph for PM or is Canada ready for a woman PM???

I do not think Klein would ever get elected as PM Hock, too many people view him with the same cloth as they do Harper.

I don't think Klein would get any votes outside of Alberta at all. The man is an embarrassing buffoon. If we sent him to an international meeting, he'd be laughed at.

Well Martin is in Argentina today. I wonder if he will meet with Chavez in private?

If Ralphie was PM he would get drunk, fall off a cliff and drown in the Ocean and embaress Canada.

Prime Minister Paul Martin leaves troubles at home for walk on world stage

I guess he can celebrate not being blamed personnaly for Gomery.

OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Paul Martin is leaving the political heat in Ottawa for a seaside resort in Argentina.

Martin will help host the fourth Summit of the Americas in Mar Del Plata this Friday and Saturday.

Thirty-three other leaders from North, South and Central America will be there, including U.S. President George W. Bush.

It will be a chance for Martin to escape days of attacks in the Commons over the sponsorship scandal and contaminated water on First Nations.

Summit leaders will be talking about ways to create more jobs and eliminate poverty.

Large anti-globalization demonstrations are expected, including one led by Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona.

Many will also be watching to see if Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, an outspoken critic of American policy, will grab the spotlight by openly challenging Bush.

If Harper went to an international meeting, nobody would see his face because he'd have perpetually buried between George Bush's ass cheeks.

He will be meeting with Chavez, reportedly about problems our mining interests have been having in Venezuela. Hopefully Hugo will be able to straighten him out on what the obligations of foreign nations and their corporations are when operating in a sovereign state.

I'll still vote liberal at this point. I don't trust the NDP with the economy and I don't trust the CPC on anything. It's too bad the Bloc is seperatist.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm finding the Conservatives looking better then the Liberals at this point. The Liberals just have no plan, and that is why I find myself drifting away from them. A short term out of government with a CPC minority would allow the Liberals to refresh themselves and develop a good plan for the country, so I hope that happens.

Another thing that bothers me is the $50million identified by Gomery as missing cash. I just don't believe that the Liberals payed back everything they took from the adscam. I doubt that the $1.1 million is all, as that is only documented things. Of that $50million, atleast some must have been used as untraceable cash in Liberal election spending.

Haha, although I'm leaning towards voting CPC now, I still find that comment pretty funny.

I also think the NDP could pick up Vancouver Centre as well, Hedy Fry will in very tough against Svend.

So there are 4 seats in BC I can think of NDP getting, 3 from Cons (Both Grewals), 1 from libs (Van. Centre)and 1 that was Independant.(Surrey North)

I also think NDP could pick one more up on Island and maybe get Kamloops back?!!?

I think we're likely looking at 24 or 25 seats this time around, No 1. There are a lot of possibles though, likely another 4 in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and maybe a half dozen in Ontario that could go either way, so 30 isn't out of the question. Everything west of Ontario would come out of Conservative totals.

Something I wish they would do is poll on a riding by riding basis. All of the parties do it internally to some extent, usually just in close ridings, but they rarely get published.

The polls that are published give us no idea where they polled. That can make all of the difference too.

Well after the Campbell sweep in 2001 the NDP have gradually returned to their historic highs here and would not surprise me if Anderson was to lose on island as he snuck in at last minute in previous two elections. I could see the Island going all NDP. Plus do real well in Lower mainland until you hit bible belt.

....I have to agree with you Senathos ...... I just hate to picture the liberals in power after then next election again .... Canada would do better with a break a fresh start....and lets see where that takes us..... I mean the CPC are a young party and I think they deserve a chance ...and if Canadians do not like them then you can bet they will be voted out for the liberals again....but then who know they may surprise us.... I think it's time for some broad tax cuts...don't ya guys think....lets get this softwood thing cleared up....lets regain some clout in the International community and act like a G7 nation..... Harper seems to be a fresh face in politics and hes got my vote.

Doesn't matter if 100% of people vote for Harper in Alberta as all they can gain is 2 seats top.

He only seems like a fresh face if you don't know anything about Canadian politics.

Quote:

You mean we should run deficits and torture poor people for money?

Quote:

lets get this softwood thing cleared up

So Harper will link energy to other trade disputes with the US?

Quote:

I think it's time for some broad tax cuts

I think they should be narrow and aimed at those who need the money most.

Quote:

and if Canadians do not like them then you can bet they will be voted out for the liberals again

That would require them to be voted in first. Not gonna happen.

Quote:

I mean the CPC are a young party and I think they deserve a chance

The Reform/Alliance/Conservatives are not a young party and they look even older when you take into consideration that Harper has monthly meetings with Mulroney.

Quote:

Canada would do better with a break a fresh start....and lets see where that takes us

So we should elect the NDP

Quote:

You'd best get used to the idea. You haven't got the numbers and you haven't got a single seat in Quebec.
