i might vote concervative if they never had stevan harper as a leader. he is a bit scary to me because he could do anything if he has the option. the thing is he is an extremist(well by canadian standards he really i think has the same opions as bush) but if he came to power he would not be able to do everything he wants . but if he did do even a bit of the things he wanted to do it could become a problem
-private health care
-get rid of daycares
-lower taxes to extreme levels
-cut healthcare
-etc
of course as i said before these are his views not his party that is why the platform is different. i want another person to become leader. does anyone know the conditions or the time that a ledership convention will be held other then if he resigns.
You have fallen victim to the Liberal plot to demonize every leader of the opposition as an "extremist".
Yes, Harper would allow the provinces to use private delivery of health care. The Supreme Court has just defended that view, so this hardly makes Harper extreme. Private care clinics are popular, especially in Quebec, where Paul Martin uses one. Private health care does not mean you pay, it just is a more efficient way to deliver health care.
The Conservatives would rather give poor parents money to use as they please for day care, instead of forcing the public to pay for rich folks kids. This hardly is "shutting down day care"
Have you seen the Liberals "economic update"? Tax relief is necessary, and the Liberals are trying to steal Conservative fire on the issue.
Stephen Harper would certainly NOT "cut healthcare" funding. That is not part of the platform, never has been, and it won't happen. It would be political suicide.
I hope I have eased some of your fears.
Feel free, and safe, in voting Conservative.
