Carolyn Parrish

She won't have the massive funding of the Liberal Party though, Just the Facts. It's important to keep that funding in mind during an election.

Her candidates knew who they were getting. She had to fight for nomination against one Martin's pets, and she had been outspoken long before the last election. If I knew that way out here in Manitoba, her constituents have no excuse for not knowing.

Those constituents are liable to be better represented now anyway. She was locked out of circles of influence in the Martin government. She would have been lucky to be allowed to stand up and ask a question (likely one written by somebody else) in the House of Commons once a year. Now she gets one question a week.

That's an assumption. You can't say she was elected because of who she was, and not because of her party affiliation. That's nonsense, especially in an election that was so highly charged by lefties as "We must keep Harper out!".

Only the voters in her riding can say if they voted for her or her party. Now they should be given the opportunity to reaffirm that choice.

Sheesh, for people who wail about the death of democracy in America, you sure have no probs ignoring it when it suits you.

They could have put Martin's pet in as candidate, but they didn't. They could have voted for somebody else who wasn;t part of Harper's assault on human decency, but they didn't.

The fact, Just the Facts, is that her constituents voted for Carolyn Parrish. They elected her as their MP over the other candidates.

That's so obviously irrelevant I'm not even gonna bother pointing out how irrelevant it is.

Yeah, as a Liberal Party Candidate. A large L liberal. What's so difficult about that.

Just that it doesn;t match the way our system is supposed to work, the things said by Parrish, other members of the Liberal party, of the press.

Nobody was surprised that Martin kicked her out. Nobody would have been surprised had he kicked her out half way through the election.

Without a doubt that is one of the most ridiculous statements I've read.

Furthermore, I would really appreciate an explanation as to how that's going to happen. ****PERSONAL ATTACK DELETED****

Thank you

I offered the explanation for that when I wrote the original post when I said,

You tried to pull it out of context, Grimy. Your ploy didn't work.

In Canada, with few exceptions we vote for the party.

As voters we are either Liberal, Conservative or NDP. Quebecers maybe Bloc - and that demonstrates my point.

Let me preface this by saying that I am no apologist for GWB; in fact, I doubt he is anything but a puppet run by the hard right loonies.

However, that being said, I am a private citizen. I am free to say these things. If I were an elected representative of the Canadian people, I would NOT be free to speak like that; there are certain expectations for those holding public office, and speaking with some sense of tact and diplomacy is one of them.

Parrish is supposedly a school teacher; I am glad she never taught my daughters. I teach my children to behave with politeness, something she has obviously not learned.

Sheila Copps, when she was on CBC the other morning, was just as bad. She doesn't get it either. Too bad.

Yes. Sheila is too, an embarrassment.

A couple elections ago, Sheila said she would resign if her party did not scrape the GST. They didn't. She didn't.

However, due to mounting public pressure she reluctantly succumbed to popular opinion. No integrity at all.

Right on, Ten Penny. Parrish is a "Bunned Stitch" and an embarrassment to Canada. Typical Loudmouth renegade Liberal. (or used to be)

Copps is just a boil on your ass that wont go a way.

Except that she was re-elected by her constituents when they knew, or should have known, what they were getting. Same with Copps.

These aren't one-termers here. They are people who have a reputation for representing their constituents in a certain way and standing for certain things. Are you guys saying that the people who have voted for them time and again are an embarrassment to Canada too?

I don't know if the voters are an embarrassment, but they obviously WANT TO BE embarrassed. That confuses me, but hey, each to his own. If you want your MP to be an ignorant loudmouth embarrassment, all the more power to you.

When I moved, Elsie Wayne became my MP. Talk about embarassing, but at least it wasn't international in scope.

They obviously put aside their disdain for her personally and voted for her anyway because she was the LIBERAL PARTY CANDIDATE!

That argument doesn't hold water, Facts. Unlike most Liberal candidates, her votes actually increased. She is the variable there because it is the same Liberal party that lost votes all around the country.

I don't find Parrish embarrassing at all. I didn't find Copps embarrassing either. These are politicians who are elected and and re-elected to represent the people who live in their ridings. They, at least, have a vision of Canada and are willing to stand up for this country. That's something that Martin and Stephen Harper have failed to do...show vision and stand up for Canada.

George Bush is a big boy. If can't handle being called a few names then he should go back to Texas. The accuracy of the names Parrish has called him is what really pisses him off. That's nothing to be embarrassed about.

Most, not all?

You may be right, but there's only one way to know for sure. If she's such a shoe-in, then what's the problem, she should resign and run.

Somehow I doubt GW is pissed off about Parrish. I don't think he would give her a second thought.

Then why is everybody running around freaking out? That's the real story here...that Parrish was being mean to poor little Georgie. That's where the differences between her and Martin spring from. That's why some people are saying they are embarrassed by her. That's why other people are cheering her on.

But seriously, I was talking about GW himself. A nation of halfwits freaking out because someone got fired for insubordination has nothing to do with GW himself. It has to do with the nation of halfwits.

No, it has to do with our spineless leaders being afraid of offending Georgie. We are talking about a man who doesn't want to address Parliament because they might boo him after all.

We should tell him to stay home if he's afraid to address Parliament.

They will boo him as they did Reagan. This is why he is avoiding it. Let him stay home. He is the one who is telling us "keep the terrorsits out of Canada".

Bush to speak in Halifax, not in Parliament

He should speak at Gander or Alert so that the threat of a terrorist strike will not be in a major population center if he does not have the stomach to face a few boos in Parliament.

There will no terrosrist threat. He will just come to Halifax and say few nice words about Canadians helping Americans on 9/11. That would be about 3 years overdue.

Anywhere Bush speaks rasies the concern of an attack. He has nothing to fear, he is better protected than the Pope. However, it is a fair to say it is unlikly that he will be given a warm reception, thus protests and potetial for violence. I can see a situation like Concordia happening when the Israeli PM came to speak. If Bush feels he has to come here I would rather it be in an area that if protests are to happen it would not be in a major population center is all.

I think peaceful protests are a good thing though, Scape. Most Canadian protests have been peaceful since Quebec, and that was a police riot.

Bush isn't afraid of protests anyway...he lives in a bubble where he never has to see the protestors. What he's afraid of is our elected officials because he doesn't have all of them in his pocket.

I kinda figured, but I was fishing for a chance to brag about my t-shirt again. It has a picture of Geoge Bush on it and the caption "International Terrorist." It's my favourite shirt ever.
