Belgium reaches deal to back EU-Canada trade agreement

BRUSSELS — The Belgian government has reached a deal to back the free trade deal between the European Union and Canada on the day the agreement was supposed to be officially signed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel was able to announce the agreement following days of negotiations with the region of Wallonia. The region has veto power in Belgium and the broader EU needs unanimity among its 28 member states.

War is just nature's way of reducing the number of humans. It's one of several methods that include earthquakes, typhoons, epidemics and country music.

I agree, that was a smart move.

You don't need free trade for peaceful interaction.

In fact free trade can actually stoke conflict if the two countries have stark differences on social policy.
So can unfree trade. Google "Smoot-Hawley Tariff," generally credited to be one of the proximate causes of WWII.

What products are involved that we have to export other than grain and what are we going to import that eliminates what we already import from places like China?
How will that affect dealing with the UK as the EU as they might not be all that froendly to trade deals without a bunch or extra taxes included.

We where a significant exporter of horse meat until a handful of years ago.
Quebec taking all the horses?? Never heard of mad-horse disease so it might be safer.

Until the citiots decided it was not PC to sell horse meat for humans.

Of course you wouldn't be in favor of something good for the economy.
