Ontario Liberals expected to reveal electricity cuts as election looms

Ontario’s ruling Liberals are expected to unveil promised cuts to electricity bills in Monday’s Throne Speech, tackling the province’s most intractable pocketbook irritant.

Premier Kathleen Wynne is calculating that such a pivot toward bread-and-butter concerns is necessary to reverse poor poll numbers and plot a course to re-election.

But with many of the costs of the province’s electricity system tied up in lengthy contracts and long-term infrastructure investments, there is little the government can do on the structural side to lower bills in the 20 months before the next election.

The alternative is a straight subsidy to hydro consumers. The Liberals have hinted at one possible way to do this: The province’s climate-change plan last spring pledged to divert proceeds from the coming cap-and-trade system to lower bills. Other options include removing the HST from electricity bills or using tax dollars to subsidize bills.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The twat promised rate relief before the last election too. That sure didn't happen, in fact, they increased.
Just get rid of the goddam "Global adjustment fee" and people will be able to afford their hydro bills again.
I mean you DO understand it's not the rates that are the problem, right dumbass? How many times does it need to be explained to you that charging someone $100 for every $25 in hydro they use is called THEFT!!!

Maybe you should move out of your parent's basement and see what real life is like for a change.

Mentalfart believes we should all work for free and donate our entire earnings to taxation to help stop global warming...I mean climate change as it is now called because the evidence shows the earth is cooling. He doesn't give a sh^t because he lives off tax-free benefits. I doubt he even pays for his internet or cable. It's just a shame those benefits can't fix the glaring brain injury he obviously suffered.

On the topic. The Libs think people are stupid. A tax cut means either reduced services somewhere else or more debt to pass along to your children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maybe a few generation further considering the size of the Ontario debt.
