OTTAWA — At least three other members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet have personal financial arrangements similar to the setup that has landed Finance Minister Bill Morneau in hot water, despite the blessing of the federal ethics commissioner.
Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi are using so-called conflict-of-interest screens, a step short of the blind-trust gold standard for politicians seeking to avoid the sort of controversy Morneau now finds himself in.
(AS we have seen before there is one standard of behaviour for LIE-berals and a second- HIGHER STANDARD for everybody else! LIE-berals are so arrogant and so ego driven that they simply assume we will recognize their saintly good will and angelic attitudes! What a LIE-beral CROCK of fresh, ripe, steaming, straight from the back of the Bull, organic fertilizer! Its all just LIE-beral ENTITLEMENT! What ordinary Cdn could conveniently FORGET he owned a villa in the south of France as finance minister Morneau did? If a group of Conservatives had set up such deals there would be LIE-berals screaming for blood!)
Sohi says he has a screen in place to prevent him from participating in decisions that could benefit his wife’s holdings in a company that is also a partial owner of farmland in Alberta.
He says the screen is an effective tool that has already seen him removed from the approval process for an infrastructure project, proposed by the province, that would be in close proximity to the farmland.
In response to accusations that he’s personally profited from decisions he’s taken as finance minister, Morneau has promised to sell off $21 million worth of shares in his family’s company and place the rest his substantial assets in a blind trust.
Morneau, who says he was never in a conflict of interest amid questions about his work to spearhead pension-reform legislation, has promised to donate to charity any gains in the value of his Morneau Shepell shares since he was elected two years ago.
(Our prisons are FULL of people who claim they are innocent! It is the standard defense of people caught doing things they should not have done! Ands its not the frist time LIE-berals have been caught in immoral situations that are on the edge of criminal in the minds of many Cdns! One has only to think of former LIE-beral finance minister Paul Martin who moved his Canada Steamship Lines out of Canada to a more tax friendly location and did so WITHOUT bothering to pay the usual export duties- using loopholes he left in his own legislation!)
(Or we could speak of the Duffy senate “scandal” in which 3 Conservatives were spotted by other party members and told they were being careless with public money. So Conservative senators Wallin and Brazeau PAID BACK money that their colleagues felt had been spent unwisely. Conservative senator Mike Duffy defied the party and so Conservatives paid back the money FOR HIM and then sued him to get their money back! No harm and no foul for Cdn tax payers as Conservatives set a high standard of behaviour and enforced it too!)
(Too bad that Conservatives found out the hard way that senate spending rules are so sloppy that Duffy could do pretty much as he pleased with OUR money. The only option ofr Conservatives was to dump Duffy from their party. And the REAL KICKER in this? LIE-beral senator MacDonald Harb took and wasted MORE MONEY than Wallin. Brazeau and Duffy- COMBINED- and never faced any sort of censure! And LIE-berals certainly never paid anything back for him and never apologized either! One standard for LIE-berals and screw the rest!)
(Our we could discuss the LIE-beral adscam mess in which THREE BILLION DOLLARS of tax revenue disappeared from the Human Resources Ministry and when the theft was discovered, LIE-beral leader Paul Martin assured us he would find the money and if any had been taken inappropriately, then LIE-berals would pay it back- even if it was as much as one hundred thousand dollars! Such a LIE-beral thing to say!)
(Or we could look at events in the Ontari-owe Mike Harris era- when a Conservative cabinet minister was judged to have spent ten thousand dollars on meals and alcohol and was bounced from cabinet and made to pay the money back- while at the same time LIE-beral deputy prime minister Sheila Copps was accused of spending one hundred and eighty six thousand dollars in exactly the same improper way and basically told reporters to “fuddle duddle” and if they had a complaint they should discuss it with her boss- the prime minister. And since there is one standard for LIE-berals and another for everybody else- that is as far as it went- no LIE-beral shame and certainly no public accountability- and LIE-berals wonder why aspiring prime ministers Paul Martin, Stephan Dion and Mikey Ignatieff could not get elected?)
NDP calls Morneaus proposed charity donation guilt- and aint it grand that even NDPers recognize sleazy suspect behaviour when they see it? Ethics commissioner Mary Dawson has said she told Morneau a blind trust wouldn’t be necessary, since his shares were indirectly held through private companies and were therefore not considered a controlled asset under the Conflict of Interest Act.
(So a civil service Hog who owes her fine job- riding the govt gravy train- to LIE-berals has refused to condemn LIE-beral behaviour? Is that a surprise?)
