It's probably just Stockholm Syndrome

Justin Trudeau's political honeymoon the envy of world leaders in Davos

As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses the rich and powerful at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, today, some of the world leaders in attendance may be a little envious of his polling numbers at home.

But the numbers suggest Trudeau's honeymoon is typical by recent Canadian standards.

The Liberals are sitting on some strong poll numbers three months after the federal election. Two recent surveys peg the Liberals' support at 44 to 45 per cent of decided voters, up from the 39.5 per cent the party took on election night.

The government's approval rating was at 53 per cent, with just 25 per cent disapproval, in a recent poll from Abacus Data. The Conservative government under Stephen Harper had an approval rating of just 32 per cent, with 47 per cent disapproving, before the campaign kicked off last August.

The numbers for Trudeau himself are also positive, with a Nanos Research poll suggesting 54 per cent of Canadians prefer him as their choice for prime minister, against just 14 per cent for interim Conservative Leader Rona Ambrose and 11 per cent for NDP Leader Tom Mulcair. The prime minister had an average approval rating of 61 per cent, with 29 per cent disapproving, in polls taken in early December.

Davos, a mountain resort of outrageous prices and limited access to dissuade protests and dissenting voices.

Here the parasites of World Finance and Trade gather to endorse and rationalize the disastrous policies of Global Free Market Capitalism with their selected sycophants and apologists.. as it careens from crisis to crisis in an ever steeper downward trajectory.

And what do they need in goverment.. gullible simpletons.. without the wit or sense to see through their lies or forsee its conequences.. a post nationalist in thrall of post structural ideologies.. The Prime Twit of Canada.. Justin Trudeau.. space cadet in charge.. fills the bill.

But its far from envy.. its just fraudsters who see an easy mark and a fool.

Justin's mother also sings, maybe they should have a duo?

They might sound better than a Justin speech.

The best thing Trudeau has going for him is that he's not Harper. That benefit will only last so long and Trudeau will have to prove himself in the eyes of Canadian voters. Other than the Flossy's of the world, that might prove difficult. Especially if the economy fails to improve.

Nenshi calls out Trudeau on 'resourcefulness' comments at World Economic Forum

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi says he doesn't agree with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's comment that Canada should be known for its resourcefulness, not its resources.

The mayor is taking part in the World Economic Summit in Davos, Switzerland.

Trudeau attempted to differentiate himself from Stephen Harper, who addressed Davos as prime minister in 2012.

"My predecessor wanted you to know Canada for its resources," he said. "I want you to know Canadians for our resourcefulness."
Nenshi says he would not have used that language.

"We are still a resource-based economy. Our biggest export is still energy. And I do not see a path where that does not continue to be the case, so clearly we need to do what we can on market access," said Nenshi.

Nenshi says market access is an issue "being discussed in every corner of this place."

"The two most likely pipeline projects are both entirely in Canada. It's Trans Mountain and Energy East," he said.

"And Energy East in particular supplies Alberta energy to the rest of Canada. So, yes, social licence is required within our own country, but we also need to see action from this federal government about what's happening in Canada."

Nenshi says the National Energy Board should come down with a decision on the Trans Mountain pipeline in May. He's urging the federal government to not delay and to move forward with that project quickly.
