(I couldn't find one specific thread about the Syrian refugee plan, but feel free to move if there is one.)

Syrian refugees: Target of 10,000 to see 2-week delay
However, Liberals still on track to welcome 25,000 refugees by end of February

The Honourable John McCallum PC, MP, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, has advised that while the Government anticipates meeting its target of welcoming 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February, it appears that there is going to be a two-week delay in meeting the target of 10,000 privately-sponsored refugees by the end of the calendar year. (The Government also says it is on-track to meet the target of 25,000 government-sponsored refugees by the end of 2016.)

800 more refugees are reportedly arriving on three flights at some point today.

I agree with the minister when he suggests that Canadians should think about whether it is more important that we focus on welcoming these new refugees onto Canadian soil and assisting the refugee settlement efforts, rather than focusing on intermediate deadlines when the Government is still on track to meet its longer-term commitments.

Delays and challenges faced by the Government in the resettlement effort have included:
  • securing assistance from the governments of Lebanon and Turkey
  • slow start to medical screenings for refugees
  • building capacity in the ministry to process cases
  • timing conflicts in the actual movement of refugees

Don't care. Issue isn't numbers or phony deadlines. Do it right: 3,700 fewer Syrian refugees landed than estimated

a couple of common sensed thoughts on our moral superiors and their lapdog media:

shiny pony said using refugees as photo-ops is disgusting, but apparently a refugee countdown clock is just hunky dory.

it's more like 18700 fewer refugees than estimated. the media party covers up the fact the promise was 25,000, not 10,000.

the Ottawa punditry is making herculean efforts to keep from admitting that Prime Minister Stephen Harper was right all along about this liberal target.

and finally, these arrogant liberals are really saying "don't worry that we're incompetent and got the timeline wrong twice, we'll eventually get it done.

Ohhh Noooo! The Liberal government is the worst failure of the twentieth century. The Liberals are the biggest looosers in the whole wide world. Plus the broken promises, oh the humanity. Geez, where's Ezra when you need him?

Well they did campaign strongly on the heartstrings of Canadians insisting they would move heaven and earth to reach their targets .
It turns out they overestimated the power of sitting government to control the bureaucracy ( I seemed to have spelt it correctly for a change ) and all the refugees that have so far been granted entry into Canada were previously or in the process of being screened before the change of government .
Lets take a picture .

Was Trudeau just telling Canada what it wanted to hear on Sept 20 or does he, too, lack the "political will" 1/2

Trudeau promised 25,000 govt sponsored refugees by Jan 1 at, of all places, Pier 21 in Halifax. http://ln.is/globalnews.ca/news/2/769tN … 2/2

have a shiny new year.

All those lovely government workers gleefully welcoming our new PM to parliament hill didn't mean they wanted to work harder . They just wanted a new boss . One that would not require them to work harder .

Hell, he couldn't even meet 10,000 refugees. His arrogance got the best of him. Seems these refugees are not quite ready to leave their country as they have issues to deal with like selling their assets (homes I guess) Those are the muslim refugees. Meanwhile, Christians and Yadizees refugees who have lost absolutely everything because of ISIS. And yet, Trudeau says the muslims are the real refugees and the most persecuted. Tell me Mr. Trudeau, if they own property and are not in a real hurry to come to Canada, how can you call them real refugees. Perhaps after they sell their properties and come to Canada, they will be a Canadian of convenience...and a libtard voter.
