1. Identity Politics: The Niqab
I agree with this one; it probably contributed, substantially, to the Conservatives' loss of the general election. I think that this was a "wedge" issue like no other, designed to whip the Tory base into a frenzy and to bring back long-time conservative supporters ("See, guys! We're totally not too progressive!"); it was also just one more example of the Conservatives taking on the Courts, and losing. Threatening to "work around" the Courts is never a good Canadian political call.
2. Chris Alexander, Immigration Minister
The Honourable Chris Alexander PC, then the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, made some major political missteps during the election campaign, when he accused the media of only caring about the Syrian refugee crisis because of a photo of the lifeless child, Alan Kurdi, on a Turkish beach. The accusation was a media relations and campaign nightmare for the Conservative Party.
3. Candidate Vetting
All of the federal parties had some serious problems during the campaign when it came to vetting candidates for suitability to run in the general election. Between would-be Conservative Jerry Bance in Scarborough—Rouge Park urinating in a client's coffee cup, to would-be Liberal Ala Buzreba in Calgary Nose Hill saying that a Twitter user should have been aborted, to would-be NDP Morgan Wheeldon in Kings—Hants accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing, candidates dropped like flies.
4. Eve Adams Crosses the Floor
The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau PC, MP took a lot of flak from within the party when he welcomed, with open arms, Eve Adams (then representing Mississauga—Brampton South), when she crossed the floor. She had been a hyper-partisan Conservative parliamentary secretary, and was known as one of the opposition parties' most pointed attackers. In the general election, though, she lost the Liberal nomination.

Here's the link to the video. Just bizarre.
