too bad eh

A Pakistani-Canadian imprisoned in California over a plot to decapitate employees of a Danish newspaper and throw their heads on to the street is among those targeted for revocation of their citizenship under a controversial new law, the National Post has learned.

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 54, is the only one of the 10 Canadians whose citizenship the government is seeking to revoke for terrorism who was convicted by a foreign court, the U.S. District Court in Chicago. He is serving a 14-year-sentence at a prison in San Pedro, Calif.

The former owner of First World Immigration, which operated in Toronto, Rana was convicted in 2011 of conspiracy in relation to a plot to attack the Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten newspaper for publishing a cartoon depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban.

He was also convicted of providing material support to Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, the Pakistani terrorist group that 10 sent gunmen to Mumbai, India in 2008 to attack major hotels, a train statin and a Jewish centre. More than 160 people were killed.

Rana was living in Illinois when he was arrested in 2009. According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, his scheduled release date is Dec. 28, 2021. Upon completion of his sentence, he would have likely been deported to Canada. But if his citizenship is successfully revoked, he could only be returned to Pakistan.

When are they revoking the Moncton killer's citizenship?

Really? You are comparing someone that was born here that went off the deep end mentally with a man that came here as an immigrant, plotted terrorist acts and has been found guilty.

Apparently, the Feds are making a pretty convoluted argument - he was born in Canada, after his parents renounced Pakistani citizenship. But then Pakistan allowed dual citizenship, which meant that his parents could be dual citizens, and so he could also be a dual citizen. That's pretty far fetched.

In any case, he wasn't convicted in Canada, so the Fed may be on very weak constitutional grounds.

Preposterous accusation # 742. I'm about efficiently locating the Islamophobic threads in one easy to find location for the retards who believe that Islam is about to swallow the world. There's at least five of them on the forum homepage today. Someone is afraid of ISIS buying aircraft carriers.
