BE sort of like the Sea King replacements that another lib cancelled and we still have the seakings. Why do liberals not want to be able to defend our country or do our share with NATO?DO they like being the laughing stock of the world?

There are a few aircraft better and cheaper than the F-35. The Stealth Eagle is faster, has a longer range that the F-35...So is the Super Hornet.

Replace it with what, some S-500 systems (or design and build a defense based on Mach-5 capable drones) that are deployed far to the north when needed as a cluster munition that can sit and wait until the target comes near them and central command can pull the triggers

The F-35 will never be combat ready.
It lost a lot of it's sting when stealth became impossible when tracked with something that was reading the universal background radiation. When you show up as a white streak on a monitor the odds of finishing any mission is pretty much zero.

In 9 years the conservatives havent really upgraded or changed anything in this regard. So in practice it'd have no effect on things.

Well, to be fair, the bulk of the money that was "saved" by cancelling the EH-101 contract went to the F-35 program.

Justin's probably right about getting rid of the F-35 but if he is typical to his party, he would replace them with nothing.

First things first, they wil address the stealth problems after they fiqure out how to get them to fly without a full maintenance crew onboard. I have written them suggesting an elite team of tiny engineers instead of the uncessarily large hulking pilots usually employed.

It's hard to see that they had any intention of winning. It seems that losing is the best tactic to win. Of course winning seems to entail excapeing with the loot free of any liability for the destruction of an empire.

The big question will be who inherits the arms that now come under NATO control. I can see a lot of it being relabeled 'homesteader tools v.1.0. Make the desolate parts of the various cities the places where the arms expos are held. Tad more exciting once Vegas starts giving odds on the shots.
Looks like Israel already has a new dance partner from the UN Security Council.
Netanyahu Meets Putin in Moscow over Syria Worries — Naharnet
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday as Israel frets over a Russian military buildup in Syria.
Netanyahu was accompanied by his army and intelligence chiefs in a rare step for an overseas visit that Israel said would focus on Russia's maneuvering in the war-torn nation.
"It was very important to come here in order to clarify our position and to do everything to avoid any misunderstandings between our forces," Netanyahu said at the start of the meeting.
Netanyahu said he was determined to stop arms deliveries to Lebanon's Hizbullah and accused Syria's army and Iran of trying to create a "second front" against Israel.
