Fed Health spending up

Toronto, ON – September 14, 2015 – The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) has learned that starting October 1, 2015 Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care will further cut funding for physician services.

“Through their ongoing cuts, the government is seriously threatening access to the quality, patient-focused care Ontarians rightly expect from their doctor,” said Dr. Mike Toth, president of the OMA.

Starting October 1, 2015, the Ontario government will impose another 1.3 per cent cut across all fee-for-service doctors in the province, as well as a series of additional unilateral cuts to specific services. Combined with previously announced cuts to funding for physician services, the government has now cut the funding needed to care for our growing and aging population by a total of 6.9 per cent.

Well to be fair they do have to find the money somewhere to finance their importing of terrorists. er sorry I'm told those might be refugees.

Physician's fees in Ontario have needed an overhaul for a while now.

It costs $200 just to see your own medical records.

Last year I went to a drop in clinic to see about my really sore shoulder. I had done something to it at the gym. The Dr did basically nothing. That night it was in so much pain I went to emergency. That doc arranged for me an appointment to see a shoulder specialist presumably within the next 6 months. Useless twits. It turned out to be a nerve in my back and what I need more than anything was pain management, which those twits did nothing for. Having those guys on the payroll was pointless. Start the cuts by dropping docs like them. They're only there to collect a healthy paycheque.

what a prescription for a mess,
the physcians will not stand for it or even tolerate loss of income,in the end the physcians will suceed with their desire, and the government will be more on the hook for way more then they bargained for in the beginning.
physcians are the closest thing to god, they are not to be messed with.

Meh, the vast majority of GPs these days are little more than overpaid medical secretaries. Nurse practitioners have pretty much the same knowledge as GPs and cost less. They perform basic diagnoses, prescribe medication and make referrals to specialists.

Yep, I have the greatest respect for nurses, I think if a person is in a life and death situation that requires quick corrective action I'd opt for a good nurse. Doctors however are important as sometimes it's their signatures that are required and they are often the only ones who can confirm a diagnosis to you. Having said that my G.P. is excellent.

Nurse practitioners can do the same. And here's the best part, they actually make house calls if you can't make it to an office.

My last GP was really good. She had the bedside manner of a wet cabbage but she definitely knew her s**t. She was certainly one of the better doctors I've had without a doubt, but she moved. My new doctor is ok. Only seen him a handful of times though. He seems pleasant enough but he's also one of those overpaid medical secretaries I mentioned previously. His nurse does all the work or he sends me up to the clinic where inevitably, a nurse ends up doing all the work. Hell, the one doctor I saw after getting sent up to the clinic wouldn't even look at the problem, he just made an appointment with a specialist. Spent 3 hours at the doctors that day merely to get a damn doctor appointment.
At least my doctor looked at the problem, he just said, "I ain't touching that". lol

The specialist on the other hand was great. Seen him twice so far and I think the total waiting time to see him has been maybe 5 minutes.

So why would anyone need to see their Medical Record?

I know what mine is just based on my recollection of issues.

When I hurt my back reaching for a drink they even gave me the DVD that comes out of the MRI. Kind of a gruesome thing to look at.

I ended up giving it to the therapist and he walked me through it.

And if you were incapacitated the Doctor would surely request your history to see what was wrong with you.....
