Saskatchewan, the virtuous.

Saskatchewan goes to Alberta to steal some oil business

In front of several hundred people from all facets of the oil and gas industry, Saskatchewan's economy minister pitched his province as the land of stability.

Bill Boyd began and concluded his speech boasting about the province's safe and secure resource royalties, a contrast to Alberta where the NDP government is pledging to review its royalties.

Boyd sees an opportunity to capitalize on the uncertainty in neighbouring Alberta and steal away some business.

"We've always been in competition," said Boyd about Saskatchewan and Alberta competing for oil and gas investment. "Certainly we've had productive conversations here in Calgary."

More ethical rambling...

Really?? 2 Provinces trying to under bid each other can only hurt the taxpayers and make more profits to big oil's shareholders. I'm not going to cheer for that.

And if they didn't, Montana would. Or Texas. If Ontario sprouted oil, you can bet Wynn would be whoring Ontario as well (or she should be).

Hilarious and WTG SK. We aren't starving at current royalties rates.

We are stable and then some.

We cranked up our potash royalties after major mine expansions, new west coast ports, 9 bulker ships, two huge mines opening next year and 3 more being built right after. Same goes for uranium.

SK potash has been a huge blessing for BC as well.

Really? You used to have topsoil that could grow crops by themselves, shut down those plants and you are standing on a pile of lifeless dirt. Good luck chowing down on that.

Failing? These are not wind farms. Oil will bounce back. What goes down must go up eventually.

Not cool this type of game leads to companies playing Provinces off against
each other even more and besides Alberta will settle down in a few weeks.
Secondly what if the NDP wins Federally? There would be no place to hide heehehehee

The economy is pretty good overall, we just gotta make sure an NDP Government doesn't screw things up like they have in some of the other provinces!!
