It is always unseemly when people parade and exult in their intellectual limitations, often presenting them as virtues. For example, in Ontario, people like Progressive Conservative MPP Rick Nicholls has suggested that evolution should not be taught (link is external) in schools, as he doesn't believe in it.

Perhaps the truly rational see little profit in getting down to their level to dispute with them. Perhaps it is because the uninformed and unsophisticated comprise such a large part of our population and show no interest in learning how to think critically, dismissing those who do as elitist.

I really have no answers here, but to countenance ignorance in any form, in my view, is to abdicate our responsibilities as both human beings and as citizens, and these are obligations we cannot afford to shirk.

Sounds like this pinhead belongs to the same far right radical fundamentalist Christian group Harpo belongs to.

Funny how this story has more legs than the fact that a Liberal MP is about to plead guilty to child porn and counselling to commit sexual assault. The provincial liberals are under scrutiny over their scam in Sudbury. Their sex ed policies are receiving much flack. And we here from the auditor that the liberals spent millions on the gas plant cancellations and tried to hide it from the public.

But this, some neanderthal back-benchers idiotic comments, is more important.

Mind boggling!

That's a pretty dumb thing to say.

From what Im seeing all of that stuff is getting a fair bit of attention. Though the sex ed thing seems to be the one getting the most attention of the bunch.

Why, if it is true. Harpo has destroyed vast libraries of scientific data, decades of research on his anti science campaign. He does belong to a fundamental Christian sect that thinks evolution is bunk and that the world is only 6000 years old.

The things that make life more entertaining.
At this point, I'd really rather things that just make life better for everyone.

Are you blind?

Any Canadian listening to the news these days might well conclude that the Republican extremists or some associated evangelical group has occupied Ottawa.
And they'd be righter than Job, I believe.
Almost daily, more evidence surfaces that Canada's government is guided by tribalists averse to scientific reason in favour of Biblical fundamentalism -- or what some call "evangelical religious skepticism."
