Special ceremony to take place in the Commons Chamber

Before heading home for the holidays, MPs will pay tribute to House of Commons security guards for their "professionalism" Oct. 22, the day gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was shot dead just metres from where MPs were holding weekly caucus meetings.

Under the terms of a motion adopted unanimously Tuesday morning, the security team will be invited into the Commons chamber after question period on Thursday.

Commons Speaker Andrew Scheer will speak on behalf of his colleagues. According to the motion, the ceremony is expected to last approximately 10 minutes.
